A Day in the Life - is the first chapter of a dedicated series fully curated by Steve Bicknell for KR3. 

This bold new work by the veteran English artist provides an insight into the mind of the artist. 

Side A features three tracks by The Evader, another face of Steve Bicknell. An obscure intro leads us straight to the point: 4/4 sounds, repetitive and hypnotic, not afraid to be heavy. In fact, that's the point: to take everything that is a burden to us and embrace it. After all, there can be no light without darkness. 

On Side B, Steve Bicknell has a killer approach. A parallel rail to Side A, with a more furious, still gloomy approach. He moves in the same direction but vents different emotions. The sound is harder, rawer, faster and more impetuous. 
An outro ends the EP, as if to represent a circle closing: The first lap inside A day in the life.

ELECTRIC INDIGO
DJ, composer, musician, who has performed in 45 countries across Europe, Asia, and the Americas. She represents an intelligent and distinguished interpretation of techno and electronic music and founded the transnational female:pressure network. Her DJ-sets are characterized by a wide variety with a clarity of vision and a depth that comes from a deep understanding of the music and the art of DJing. As a composer and musician, she creates music for concert spaces and clubs, and occasionally for stage plays and short films. In her compositions and live performances, she emphasizes the spatial placement and precise structures of subtly elaborated sounds, often generated with granular synthesis. She premiered her works at festivals like Wien Modern, Musikprotokoll, CTM or Heroines of Sound and composed for Klangforum Wien. Her latest album "Ferrum" was released on Editions Mego in March 2020. The Republic of Austria awarded Electric Indigo the Kunstpreis Musik 2020.

September’s edition is here and on this episode I am extremely grateful to welcome, Bulgarian artist Ruben Ganev onto the show.

Ruben first caught my attention with his incredible self release on his own Mould Audio imprint. Since he has continued to present his sound in a way that’s unique and outstanding to say the least. 

Based on Sofia, Bulgaria where he also hold his “СКИТНИК” events alongside fellow artists from his scene. Speaking with Ruben tonight we find out more about his musical background and how he structures his workflow in the studio. Plus a little insight into the next release on his label which is a LP from the man himself.

After a solid streak of atmospheric soundscapes it's time to shake things up with complex rhythms and experimental sound design. In this new episode we have the pleasure to welcome DJ and producer Lucien Biscop. Lucien Biscop is one of the residents of the London based On the 5th Day where he has proven himself to be a versatile artist with a sound that can be narrowed down to deep, driving and experimental. This preference in sound can also be heard in his work as a producer as he shared his first output last year on the label Kombinat Records.

We asked Lucien what inspired him to record this podcast, about he had the following to say:

"For me this mix was a sound and rhythm exploration. I spent a lot of time experimenting with my productions during the lockdowns, both from a sound design and drum programming point of view. In this period I refrained myself from buying more hardware as I really wanted to push myself to use what I already have to the fullest. This approach gave me new insights which in a way also affected the DJ side. I really enjoyed playing with the contrasting vibes of these tracks and I hope to soon be able to do the same in front of a dance floor."
