Our latest mix is from musician CFCF, Mike Silver, who’s recent album Memoryland is a staple at Editorial HQ.  CFCF hones his skill for world-building in his latest release, which serves as a sentimental homage to the 90s intersection of commercial electronica and angsty alt rock. In his Editorial Mag mix, CFCF explores this milieu further, breathy foreign vocals breeze over mid-late 90s vinyl lounge music, taking us into a European internet cafe with bowl sized cappuccinos and beautiful jet-set youth.

Our next Editorial mix comes from the Australian musician @andraaaaaas (aliases Art Wilson and Wilson Tanner). Andras’ soft, new age albums Overworld, and 69, have served as psychological panacea in the past years at Editorial HQ. Haunted by the ghosts of Pioneer media players past, Andras comes to us with a recording laden with secret sounds, strings and digital overtones. The mix contains two improvisations by the seventy-eight year old American photographer William Eggleston and two songs by soundtrack composer Simon Fisher Turner. The Stars of the Lid appear in forward and reverse, mainly to emphasize the sound of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier whimpering. Listen to this sweeping collection of tunes below.

Sacred Choral music of the Medieval and Renaissance periods were written as devotional hymns for those seeking solace and inspiration in a violent, troubled world. Saint Hildegard von Bingen who was an abbess, mystic and composer, spent most of her 80 years shut away in isolation, in an obscure hilltop monastery in the Rhineland. The songs she composed came to her in mystic visions, which she wrote for her nuns to sing at their devotions.  On today's new moon, let's take inspiration from the saints and set intentions to begin new projects today. Mix by artist Darby Milbrath

For the third instalment of “Cowboys And The Sounds Of,” an Editorial mix series from longtime contributor @napmusick , we’re treated to the sounds of sad country music and trains passing by. The combination is unexpectedly heart-wrenching, as if the sound of trains bring us back to an era of long goodbyes and far distances. Three years in the making, Rincon’s two hour collection of cosmic country and folk is a testament to the enduring heartbreak and beauty of the genre. 

Daniel Rincon makes music under the moniker @napmusick ,  is one half of Ambein Baby and La Fe, and runs an experimental electronic label @sonidoisla out of Montreal.

Cowboys And The Sound Of Trains - Daniel Rincon

O.S.S. (Open Sound System) is a new collaborative project from music producers @unknown-mobile and @napmusick  
A product of friendship, O.S.S. was made by Daniel Rincon and Levi Bruce over a course of impromptu studio sessions and hangouts between Canadian coasts. O.S.S. The EP features five suites, which aim to invoke “god rays,” - the rays of sunlight that are amplified by the passing of clouds at dusk. Luminous, deep and subtle tones mimic crepuscular light in a way that feels cinematic and spiritual. We’re happy to premiere the second suite on the EP, "Blanga," a meandering sweet tune, featuring a collage of samples, synths, Romplers and VSTs.
