DJ Patrick is an Oakland, California-based DJ and selector. He is a Resident DJ at Bar Part Time in San Francisco, he hosts Pat’s Cafe – a monthly’ish morning show on Lower Grand Radio – and he’s also a Music Programmer at Bar Shiru, the Bay Area’s first Hi-Fi Listening Bar.

From 2013 to 2018, he co-founded and organized BROUHAHA, a party series that hosted the Pender Street Steppers, DJ Fettburger, Todd Edwards, Folamour, and Awesome Tapes From Africa to name a few.

When he's not playing gigs around the Bay Area, DJ Patrick runs Bop 40, a YouTube channel dedicated to uploading rare and unheard downtempo, street soul, disco/boogie, house, and other similar sounds.

John Gómez is a new school tastemaker. The London based, Madrid born DJ has ties to essential collectives like Rush Hour—who he represents on a regular NTS show—as well as Invisible City and Music From Memory, for whom he recently compiled the critically acclaimed Outro Tempo: Electronic and Contemporary Music from Brazil, 1978-1992. A deep digging, versatile selector, he covers everything from house to afro, forgotten soul to niche disco. The best place to hear all these is at Tangent, the top East London party he has run with Nick the Record for the last few years. 

Across seventy odd minutes here, John keeps things sunny and tropical, with worldly sounds from niche disco, boogie and afro scenes all over the world. Each track oozes a sense of musicality as well as a solid underlying groove. The tracks feel joyful and happy, innocent and inviting and are all sequenced in a way that allows each one to really shine. All in all, it makes for a perfect soundtrack to a summer’s afternoon.

Our next Editorial mix comes from the Australian musician @andraaaaaas (aliases Art Wilson and Wilson Tanner). Andras’ soft, new age albums Overworld, and 69, have served as psychological panacea in the past years at Editorial HQ. Haunted by the ghosts of Pioneer media players past, Andras comes to us with a recording laden with secret sounds, strings and digital overtones. The mix contains two improvisations by the seventy-eight year old American photographer William Eggleston and two songs by soundtrack composer Simon Fisher Turner. The Stars of the Lid appear in forward and reverse, mainly to emphasize the sound of a Staffordshire Bull Terrier whimpering. Listen to this sweeping collection of tunes below.
