Francesco realized this exclusive remix of the legendary Blondie's 70s success.

Heart of Glass" is a song by American new wave band Blondie, written by singer Deborah Harry and guitarist Chris Stein. Featured on the band's third studio album, Parallel Lines (1978), it was released as the album's third single in January 1979 and topped the charts in several countries, including the United States and the United Kingdom.

Parallel Lines (UK No. 1, US No. 6, Australia No. 2) Blondie's third album, released in September 1978 was produced by Mike Chapman, delivered the biggest seller of their career, and broke into the American market, too, on the strength of the single “Heart of Glass" becoming the group's most successful effort, selling 20 million copies worldwide.

The production of "Heart of Glass" was discussed in detail by Richard Allinson and Steve Levine on the BBC Radio 2 radio program The Record Producers that was aired on May 25, 2009. As explained in the program, the production of "Heart of Glass" was built around the use of a Roland CR-78 drum machine. The CR-78 was first introduced in 1978, the same year that Parallel Lines was recorded, and the use of this device on "Heart of Glass" was, according to the program, among the earliest uses of this device in popular music. As the program explained, it was also very unusual to use a drum machine in the context of a rock band.

In December 2004 Rolling Stone ranked the song number 255 on its list of the 500 greatest songs of all time. It was ranked at number 259 when the list was updated in April 2010.

Currently, "Heart of Glass" is ranked #56 in the UK's official list of biggest selling singles of all-time with sales of 1.28 million copies. It was also voted number 19 on The Nation's Favourite No 1 Single program, broadcast in July 2012 on the British television channel ITV.

<b>Elliot Rosoff (producer)</b>: “I am primarily a concert violinist and have played on records by people as diverse as Philip Glass, Deodato and LL Cool J. In the early ‘80s, I had a studio, Opal Studios and our engineer Andy Langston did a lot of R&B and disco production - our projects included a disco version of Jesse Green’s "Nice And Slow." On "Ain’t No Way," the singer was a girl called Brenda Watts – she had released a few records beforehand like "Who Needs A Love Like That" but seemed to disappear from music after Opal. I remember that we received great feedback and a lot of club play across New York.” <b>Phil Barr (writer)</b>: “During the ‘70s, Elliot was one of the few people in New York that had a 24-track studio. ‘Ain’t No Way’ had originally been written as a hard rock track - Elliot liked it and we started working on an R&B version of it which he put out on his label, Silver Cloud.”

Amsterdam's Mr Mendel has perfected the art of modernising the classics with his organic approach to mixing and editing. It was quite a switch from Hip-Hop to Soul, Disco and Afro music but we're sure as hell glad he made it. You can catch Mr Mendel spinning some sexy tunes at a number of Amsterdam's finest nights such as I Love Vinyl, Wicked Jazz Sounds and Doka, plus he also curates the Tropical mix for music discovery channel 22Tracks Amsterdam. He'll be making an appearance at Southport Weekender early this May so head on over if you want to get down to some funky grooves.

This week we have a dope tape by DJ, musician, producer and labelowner Giovanni Damico from Italy. 

Owner of the label White Rabbit Recordings and a very prolific production machine, Giovanni has built his name through the years, releasing lots of records on some of the best underground labels like Lumberjacks in Hell, Faces, Landed, Skylax, DeepArt Sounds, Ragrange, Seven Music, Geography, 12 Records, Artful Division, Black Key, Bordello A Parigi and so on.

His records have landed in the best stores of the globe and have been played and supported from many respected djs like Larry Heard aka Mr. Fingers, who often has inserted giovanni's music in his monthly mixes called "Mr. Fingers Mix".

Sharing the stages with artists like UR, Vakula, Patrice Scott, Legowelt, Fudge Fingas, Gold Panda, Roman Flugel, Hnny, Session Victim and more, Giovanni showed his great skills as DJ hitting many events through Europe in the last years. During his performances you can feel all the passion and music culture that Giovanni developed in his career with sounds that ranging from funk, soul and disco to house music in its various shades, exclusively played on vinyl.

There will be no tracklist for this mix. Just enjoy this beautiful selection of house, disco and other stuff.

The second part of KRAAK DISCO concept compilation returns with thirteen fresh and unreleased nu disco and house electronica gems exactly one year after the first debut compilation volume released last summer. Head label behind Kraak Records and Timewarp Music, Angelos also known as Timewarp, digs deeper and finds the tunes to accomplish the nu disco and nu funk compilation mission for KRAAK DISCO II.
