Kid Scissor is the solo project of Josh Ben, a Philadelphia-born, Austin-based singer, songwriter, and producer.  This solo outing is the work of a musician clearly trying to stake out his claim within the Indie Pop scene.  When the proverbial needle touches down on the vinyl, you can hear melodies of the 50s soar above rolling bass and Brooklyn beats.  If Buddy Holly had gotten a hold of a synthesizer and a drum machine, it probably wouldn’t have been fair.  Kid Scissor's debut single, “The Ones That Don’t Care,” is, in many ways, trying to explore that space.  While Kid Scissor’s sound spans decades in its influences (drawing from artists such as Dion and The Belmonts and T.Rex), it’s unmistakably dressed in modern Pop garb.  These are foot-stomping tunes with hooks that won’t let you rest.  Call it Indie Pop, call it Alt Rock, call it whatever you’d like.  It doesn’t matter.  You’ll be dancing and singing and hitting repeat.
