BLISS BEAT SESSIONS - DRUM AND BASS

The latest MOTW comes from Plump DJs and they've put together a cracking selection of twenty five tracks in a frenetic hour long mix. 

With recent remix releases for the likes of Mark Ronson, Deadmau5 and Fenech Soler, the Plump DJs continue to be the avid pioneers of diverse electronic music they were when they first cut their teeth in the late 1990s. Heading up the new Grand Hotel imprint, their bass strong, drum heavy collaborations with the scene’s most promising protégés have seen airplay from the likes of Carl Cox, Crookers, Zinc and Annie Nightingale. Bringing everything from bassline, wonky and hard edged house to uncompromising electro smashers to your ears and dancing feet, the Plumps are set to play at Soundcontrol in Manchester this Saturday and XOYO in London next Saturday.

Enjoy this live recording of the Plump DJs (Grand Hotel Recordings) from the Space Cowboys' 13th annual Breakfast of Champions in San Francisco on New Year's Day. The Plumps were a surprise, unannounced addition to the line-up this year and to the delight of an unsuspecting crowd, they lit up the Funktion One stage as the sun was setting on yet another epic B.O.C. Big thanks to Lee and Andy for rocking Breakfast of Champions and for making this recording available to The RIPEcast. We hope you like it!

Plumps DJs are internationally renown UK DJ/Producer duo Andy Gardner and Lee Rous, whose passion for innovation and non-conformist attitude to electronic music has fuelled their fire for over a decade. Their unmistakeable signature sound has earned them recent remix commissions from the likes of Deadmau5, Mark Ronson, Moby and Orbital while their four deck live show has lead to countless international tours and shows at London's lead music venues XOYO, Fabric and the Nest.  Self admitted suckers for bass and 'the groove' Gardner&Rous fuse Electro-House, Rave, Acid, Breakbeat and Techno into their own unique style they call 'Plump Music'. They have received years of unprecedented cross genre support from the electro and bass music scenes, and their success continues to grow with their well supported  'Dirty Weekend' mix on newly formed record label, Grand Hotel Records.   

Dirty Weekend is the appropriately named new mix from the Plumps, containing dance floor focused music from recent Plump inspirations The Loops of Fury, Detboi, Reset!, Nom De Strip, Blatta&Inesha, Urchins and Will Bailey. Plus sterling exclusive remixes from longtime compadres NAPT, Stanton Warriors and Peo De Pitte. It also features original music from freshly signed Grand Hotel Records artistes, Bonsai Kat and SUBMO.  Dirty Weekend has gathered support and plays from the likes of BBC Radio 1 DJ's Annie Mac, Mista Jam and Annie Nightingale, galvanizing an already established list of Plump enthusiasts which includes A. Track, Zinc Porter Robinson, Laidback luke, Armand Van Helden, Norman Cook and Carl Cox.

The Plump DJs have a compelling history of success, cemented by their musical collaborations with legendary vocalists Gary Numan, Jermaine Jackson and Louise Rhodes, a ten year residency at Fabric Nightclub and over 1200 international shows.  They are true innovators of sound who proudly co-created the popular breakbeat genre of the last decade with their initial releases on Fingerlickin Records.  Known as pioneers of production whose shared passion for electronic music and the art of making people dance, they have inspired a generation of dance floor experiments. Plump DJs RIPEcast - Live from Breakfast of Champions 2013

Originally from the Midwest, in her home state of Missouri, living in Kansas City, an area mostly known for House Music, and Drum N Bass; the Flurwerker found herself more attracted to the broken beat styles of Drum N Bass, Breaks, and mainly ELECTRO, specifically the Florida sound; which prompted her to throw events in Kansas City, booking many of Florida's finest BREAKS and DNB artists. She has performed not only around Florida but also states, such as; Florida, Kansas, Missouri, Mississippi, Nebraska, Oklahoma and Colorado. She started as a professional promoter, throwing events since 1999. Then picked up the skill; vinyl trained; since 2001 and then started on the production side in 2015; with her mentor J&H. She really found true affinity in the Electro-Breaks sound coming out of the South Florida scenes so much so that she decided to pack her bags and make the long journey to the 808 state where she now resides in the Tampa Bay area so she could further enhance her skills in the Electro Bass realms that's made Florida famous! The Flurwerker now judged as the Flurwerker the Electro Destroyer , has made her way around the Florida area such as WPB, Jacksonville, Tampa Bay, St Pete, and Orlando to name a few. She also is owner of Damage Control Records, based in South Florida specializing in Electro artist. Affiliated with: Houz of Breaks, Moro Entertainment, SBC, and Damage Control Record aka DC. Expect her sets to range from Miami Bass, to Intelligent Electro Breaks, with drops of funk and TONS of sub frequencies! Flurwerker will make you werk the Flur!
