EDMID Winter Waveforms 2021

There's something special brewing over in Minnesota and it has to do with Jim Brenk and Cameron Windsor. Of course, these two are better known in the scene as Niles Shepard and they have house music flooding through every inch of their being. Their rise to fame began when they made the fateful choice to enter Insomniac's Discovery Project for Electric Forest. They would ultimately claim the grand prize, releasing "Moon, Man" on the imprint and deliver career-changing performances at festivals moving forward.

With life looking bright, Niles Shepard hit the ground running releasing dance floor fire starters like Astoria / Blackout and "Sumthin," a track that landed on IN / ROTATION's Rotate Vol. 2. Even sloth master Sacha Robotti has come down with Niles Shepard fever and welcomed them to Slothacid with Follow Me, a collaboration with MISS DRE. Most recently, they found themselves landing on NV'D Records Family & Friends Vol. 2 with the infectious stylings of "Show Off" alongside Kasto and DANI. As you can see, the demand is very real and the path before them is filled with opportunity!

Create a seamless continuous DJ mix of a 7-track Ibiza-inspired cosmic glam disco house set. 
Blend tracks with smooth, glossy transitions using long reverb tails, filtered sweeps, and 
sidechain-ducked pads to preserve groove consistency.

Use:
• 70s-style disco strings during transitions (short staccato flourishes)  
• funky bassline continuity between tracks  
• neon synth arpeggio bridges (8–16 bars)  
• rising filter builds before each drop  
• subtle laser fx and cosmic sweeps in the sci-fi sections  
• half-time to full-time switch for the techno/DnB intermezzo  
• smooth return into glamorous dance-house atmosphere

Mix rules:
– Keep BPM between 124–128 with gentle BPM drift (±1) for natural feel.  
– Use harmonic mixing (Camelot 8A, 9A, 10A equivalent).  
– Maintain warm, deep club low-end; compression should stay soft and glossy.  
– Never allow silence; fill spaces with pads, filtered Rhodes chords, or reversed strings.  
– The final track (“Noche Eterna en la Tierra”) should resolve into an uplifting 
  global-house outro with wide stereo pads and shimmering cosmic ambience.

Canadian DJ and producer Ryan Shepherd has been gaining popularity over the past few years with his high energy performances and house music beats that make feet move with ease. Gaining early support from the likes of Loud Luxury, he kicked off 2020 in style with tunes that included "Don't Hold Me Down," "What The Hell Am I (Drinking In LA)," and a remix of ALAMPA's "Lush Dance" on Armada Music. But then, the pandemic hit.

Instead of letting the woes of lockdown get him down and out, Ryan Shepherd shifted gears to focus on supporting the local scene in Toronto. He launched a weekly livestream series dubbed Hello Sunday that found a home on Twitch and IG Live in his efforts to raise funds for the city's bar, restaurant, and nightlife scene. While many of the streams featured Ryan Shepherd solely serenading viewers, he has also been joined by other artists in the scene including Zeds Dead, Bobby Love, DLMT, and Famba. Since its launch, these livestreams have raised $20,000 to provide direct support.

As the final days of 2020 approached, Shepherd looked to gift fans with a fresh release to feast on as well with the release of his first single since before the pandemic took hold. Earlier this month he dropped "Hello Sunday," an ode to his fundraiser series that uplifts listeners with its old-school piano house vibes. Featuring vocals from acclaimed UK-based vocalist Caitlyn Scarlett, its lyrics speak directly to those who have been working to better themselves this year and layer in perfectly with the beat.

Now, to help close out the year and carry everyone into 2021, Ryan Shepherd has graced the Winter Waveforms series with a mix that will help you shake off the chilly temperatures. Give it a listen!

Southern California has become a hotbed for the freshest sounds in the underground house and techno scene, and artists from San Diego are helping lead that charge. One of the producers from America's Finest City that continued to impress with each passing performance and release is none other than ElezD.

First catching our ear and wowing us with his music back in 2017, ElezD further proved his abilities in the studio in 2020 with releases that included the likes of "Quatro," "HiCue," and "Remote Disc." He's also flexed his skills as a collaborator by teaming up with another San Diego standout, Memo Rex, on "Capital" that landed on Jannowitz Records, while also remixing 28mm's "ISO" to twist it in a new way as well.

Before the end of the year, ElezD graced his growing fanbase with another stunner dubbed "Uncharted" that features a booming beat and a tempo that urges feet to move. Out now on Playoff Records, it's a surefire jam and a solid addition to any techno lover's playlist so grab your copy on Beatport or listen to the tune on Spotify.

Now, in the first days of 2021, he's looking to leave his mark with a mix that will satiate your cravings for techno tunes and showcases the hard work he's put into making music over the past year. "I made it a goal to create a mix with 100% original music with the exception of one track I included in the mix that isn't mine," ElezD stated when asked about the mix.
