Martin Braekau - Weightless

'Pure as the finest Gold' is sung and played by Marianne Lihannah on drum, lyre and triangle.
It is  by the wonderful German composer Reinhild Brass, from her children's song book of the same name in German: 'Rein wie das feinste Gold'. The lyrics are by Angelus Silesius.

You can buy it here : https://www.edition-zwischentoene.de/...  I can highly recommend her book full of amazing songs for pre-school age and first school age.
This booklet contains 23 pentatonic songs (mood of the fifth), for singing, playing (pentatonic children's lyre, pentatonic flute) and moving.

The song, 'Pure as the finest  Gold', is translated from German by Michael Deason-Barrow and it was taught to me by him on my Tonalis music education training for children. The idea of adding instruments and playing them in the air, also comes from my Tonalis training. My 2 trainings (voice and music education) with Tonalis were amazing, I can wholly recommend training with Tonalis.

I chose 3 very different instruments, so that when they play together (improvise) on the last bit of the song, it works nicely. And instruments one can with a bit of imagination associate soundwise with gold, a stone and a crystal. 
The children, who are waiting for their turn to be one of the children with an instrument, will play the actions in the air of that instrument and sing. This is helping them to learn to play the instrument in question. And also to know, where in the song to play the instrument.
Improvisation is also a perfect way of getting to know an instrument well and to learn to play very expressively.
Many children can join in with this song. It can work really well if there are 2-3 children playing similar instruments simultaneously for for ex gold. Then another small group play different instruments with similarity on stone for example. There are places built into the song, where the instruments are introduced and where they can play in a more improvised fashion. In this way, the children have both form and freedom and the song becomes extra magical with the added instruments. And because of the improvisatory element, it is always sounding very different each time one sings it and different children are improvising.

My lyre is a pentatonic children's lyre made by John Bryan. My triangle is made by Choroi in Holland.

Purportedly, the harmonic structure of music was discovered by Pythagoras about the fifth century BC. When he found that harmonic music is expressed in exact numerical ratios of whole numbers, he concluded that music was the ordering principle of the universe. It connects all things and points to a reasoning intelligence behind it.
