Par un concours de circonstances propre à l’incroyable vie des choses, les sonorités bruitistes du premier EP de Jacques ont résonné jusqu’aux oreilles bienveillantes des membres de l’équipe de Radio France. C’est dans le cadre des journées du patrimoine que Radio France lance alors à Jacques le défi de composer un morceau qui inclus des sons enregistrés à l’intérieur de la Maison de la Radio à Paris. Panneaux de signalisation, poteaux, extincteurs, ascenseurs, tiroirs, câbles métalliques… tout le bâtiment est cogné pour en extraire une banque de sons inédite à partir de laquelle il va composer sans le savoir ce qui deviens aujourd’hui son nouveau single. Dans un morceau fait à partir de la radio et pour la radio, Jacques chante pour la première fois le fait qu’il est pour la première fois dans la radio. Le titre ? Dans la Radio. Une mise en abîme que l’on soupçonne d’être une expérience de plus dans le cadre de son projet pseudo-scientifique né au Palais de Tokyo il y a quelque mois : Le CNRV (Centre National de Recherche du Vortex).

Written, performed and recorded over two weeks in the summer of 2017, Dunk Murphy (Sunken Foal) returns under the new moniker of ‘Minced Oath’ with 15 tracks of ambient soundscapes. Using a collection of analogue synthesizers, vintage outboard effects and a simple mixing desk, each track was improvised and recorded straight to two track with no edits or composites. Sometimes serene, sometimes malevolent, ‘Supersede’ weaves through dense sonic peaks and troughs where the hum of electricity meets the texture of organic matter. 101 Beats Per Minute is a collection of electronic music producers working in varying techniques and styles. Each week a new track is released through Bandcamp accompanied by a new photographic work by artist David Cleary. Subscribers on Bandcamp can download/stream a new track every Thursday (plus the Countersunk back catalogue & future releases). Tracks will also be available for non-subscribers. 

Each artist was given the brief of composing a piece of music at the tempo of 101bpm and then sharing it amongst the other contributors to create a collective hub for inspiration before release. We’re hoping to create a dialogue between a bunch of music makers who might normally work in isolation, meanwhile shining a light on some of the talent currently exciting us. Each track is anonymously credited to ‘101 Beats Per Minute’ as the artist’s name, the contributions have come from:
