Named a ‘stellar edits provider’ by Mixmag and the ‘nu-disco don’ by Juno, Andy Buchan has become one of the leading names in the disco and edit scene. His music and edits have been played by BBC 6 Music, Greg Wilson, Optimo, Massive Attack’s Daddy G, Horse Meat Disco and Craig Charles, while Andy holds down residencies across Leeds, Manchester, Edinburgh and Southport alongside regular club and festival bookings.

With over 200 releases across chart-topping releases on dozens of disco-fried labels, including Peppermint Jam, Hot Digits, Midnight Riot and Paper Disco, Andy launched his Hot Gorilla Records imprint in 2020 along with Conan The Selector. The label hit the ground running, with several Juno Download No.1s, multiple Traxsource Top 10s and four tracks in the Best of 2021 Beatport chart. That led to the Hot Gorilla funky monkeys becoming DJ support for The Brand New Heavies' sell-out UK tour. 

Andy’s own music has been picked up for reviews in DJ Mag and Mixmag, plus radio support from 6Music and Rinse FM and club and festival plays from big-name DJs, including Bicep, Claptone, Horse Meat Disco, Greg Wilson, Peggy Gou, Justin Robertson, Electric Chair and more. That support took an interesting turn when the British National Library Sound Archive asked him to enter his back catalogue into their music collection! 

His previous residences include Chow Down and Flight Club in Leeds, Inventery and Grosvenor in Manchester alongside regular guest slots at legendary Edinburgh club The Street and the Southport Disco Festival. Alongside that, Andy has played across the UK in recent years, warming up for Huey 6 Music, Craig Charles, Dr Packer, Groove Armada, Psychemagik, Hot Chip and headlining at gigs in Manchester, Birmingham, York, Dubai and Todmorden’s legendary Golden Lion pub. 

This is just the latest chapter in Andy’s career. After freelancing for Mixmag and training as a journalist, he moved to Dubai in 2004, working for Time Out Dubai before launching DJ Mag Middle East. He was a regular on the club and festival scene, first with his own long-running, award-winning nights and with long-term residencies at Pacha and Trilogy, alongside back-to-back bookings for Creamfields UAE. It was in Dubai that he cemented his open-genre, curveball DJ style by playing alongside a wide variety of DJs like Fatboy Slim, Mark Ronson, Basement Jaxx, Todd Terje, Norman Jay, Liam Gallagher, Feel My Bicep, Graeme Park and more.

Now back in the UK, he’s become a mainstay of the disco scene while his label Hot Gorilla Records continues to grow into one of the most exciting labels in the scene, including festival slots at Beatherder and Standon Calling.

First set of decks 30 years ago, still going strong 🎧

The Black Light Disco show airs exclusively on the #1 house music station on the planet - myhouseradio.fm. Tune in every Monday from 2pm-4pm EST, 7pm-4pm GMT, 8pm-10pm CET. 

The idea of Black Light Disco became a real thing when a few like-minded DJs and producers came together to put on a night showcasing the very best in disco, house and funk and everything in between. Our ethos is based around a very simple concept: GOOD MUSIC, GOOD TIMES with GOOD PEOPLE. We announced ourselves on a gorgeous sunny Saturday in June 2019 with an all day and night party in Liverpool’s thriving Baltic Triangle area. It was the start of something very special. 

We have a solid core group of musical talent residing in BLD Towers hailing from England, Scotland, Wales, Northen Ireland and Italy -  providing perfectly cooked grooves and juicy basslines. 

The BLD team comprises of Esteban, Goz (Spin City), Pookie Knights, Cole Kutz (Opentempo.fm) De Gama and Fingerman (Hot Digits) – clocking up decades of DJ’ing and dancefloor experience between us. As individuals, the BLD team have been producing consistently high quality sets over the last few years. Now, as a collective, the aim is to make Black Light Disco THE place to promote new music and to bring you the very best in established/up-and-coming artists and producers in the sunlit uplands of sonic pleasure. 

In January 2020, we launched a weekly show on THE biggest house music FM radio station in New York, MyHouseRadio.fm (also available digitally at www.myhouseradio.fm).  The Black Light Disco Show airs every Monday exclusive to MyHouse Radio between 7pm – 9pm GMT (2pm -4pm EST), bringing you the finest in disco, funk and boogie; all delivered by our expert in-house Sonic Consultants (resident DJs) with guest mixes from the hottest producers, DJs and artists out there right now.

Born in Saint Petersburg with a blend of Filipino roots, who spent his youth in The Netherlands. 
His musical odyssey began as a young aspiring DJ, under the tutelage of Marvilla, where he learned the art of spinning turntables from his former partner.

Their collaboration led to a period where he could fully embrace his passion for House and Techno music. Together, they explored different styles and brought forth their unique sound, pushing the boundaries of creativity and expression. Their teamwork from 2020 to 2022 was filled with excitement, discovery, and growth, but as with all journeys, there came a time for both to forge their own paths.

In 2023, he embarked on a new chapter of his musical journey, driven by an indomitable spirit of innovation and adventure. Under his own name, he continued, determined to let his unique voice resonate in the cosmos of electronic music. With each passing month, he crafts new stories, engraved with the stamps of "New Dawn" and "Into Space," taking his audience on a sonic journey through the boundless corners of sound and emotion.

New Dawn:

A concept representing renewal, promises to be a beacon of light in the darkness, a musical daybreaker bringing a fresh breeze of creativity and excitement. Under this banner, he explores a wide range of genres, from intoxicating Afrohouse to Organic sounds, from immersive Progressive tunes to Deephouse waves. Each track, each rhythm, and each melody weaves a story that touches the soul and ignites the imagination.

Into Space:

 He takes his listeners on a cosmic journey, floating through the vast Milky Way of sound. Here, he explores boundless soundscapes, with hypnotic melodies and pulsating rhythms that elevate the mind and lighten the heart. From deep, contemplative soundscapes to vibrant, energetic beats, Jevko's music embraces the diversity of the universe and transports his audience to undiscovered worlds.
