Rebecca Goldberg is a producer, live performer, DJ and graphic designer from Detroit. Since her debut EP release, 313 Acid Queen, she has been affiliated with the multidisciplinary arts collective, Detroit Underground. Rebecca is a seasoned radio DJ having mixed for FM and internet-radio shows hosted across the globe.

Goldberg has self-released music and multimedia projects ranging from Detroit techno to experimental/avant-garde electronic music. She tours internationally as a DJ and live performer and has been featured at notable events from Movement Electronic Music Festival to Tresor in Berlin. Unconfined by genre, Rebecca has written original scores for classic films, “Le Voyage Dans La Lune” and “Gojira,” which included live performances at Silencio, David Lynch’s members-only club in Paris, and Armageddon Beachparty in Detroit.

In 2022 the New BBC Radiophonic Workshop released a selection of field recordings she took throughout her native Michigan for their Travel Agency project. For her live performance she focuses on sound design and the unpredictable capabilities of working with electronic instruments. In early 2023 she produced a live show called Upphljómun to showcase live performances from herself and Icelandic electronic artists during the Reykjavik Winter Lights Festival. Her most recent EP on Detroit Underground, TROIS CENT TROIS, was featured on Bandcamp’s “New and Notable” releases and is available to order worldwide. For the fourth installment of our ‚Identity formation‘ podcast series, we are happy to present Mind over MIDI (@mind-over-midi-1). Hailing from Kristiansund on the northwest coast of Norway, Helge Tømmervåg has been crafting electronic sounds since the early '80s. His earliest work recorded under the now-familiar Mind over MIDI moniker arrived in the early '90s. He's released scores of highly regarded and stylistically uncompromising sounds over the years, appearing on labels including Silent Seasons, Diametric, Hibernate, Whitelabrecs, ROHS! Lontano Series, Shimmering Moods Records, Slow Tones Collages and via his own Berserk Fabrik.

His music can be described as sounds for daydreamers and nighthinkers. Inspired by the icy winds, snowy vistas and frozen landscapes in Norway.

If you can picture the very furthest, coldest, darkest part of Norway, that's where Mind over MIDI resides. If you want to get an idea of what it's like there, and can do without the frostbite, then this is the perfect solution.

Inspired by journeys through an echo chamber, a cauldron of pressurized hypnotic hydro licks. Layers of sounds involving textures that resemble elliptical brain-worming techno that sends you swimming thru thick frequencies of underwater disturbance, swirling in a depth of bleeps and rolling zaps that allow for maximum buoyancy.

Toner was first introduced to underground music while studying abroad in Taiwan, where he was awakened by modern techno.

After returning to Japan, he became captivated by Tokyo’s club and rave scene, and naturally progressed to become involved with numerous events as both a supporter and music journalist.

Together with Toss and Kaana, he now runs "LIMINAL DREAMS”. A community of enthusiasts, deeply focused on electronic, ambient and experimental music. "LIMINAL DREAMS" pays homage to the psychedelic chill-out culture that has been prevalent since the 60’s.

“Recently, I had the opportunity to be surrounded by the beautiful port city of Keelung, Taiwan. It was a very calming and tranquil experience.

During this time, I reflected on a variety of musical experiences in recent years, to explore various sounds for this mix. I wanted to capture the beauty and tranquility of an outdoor music festival and combine it with the beauty of an intimate smoky venue.

I often find beauty in the ephemeral and feel a strong connection between music and the natural world. I hope you can enjoy this mix as a session that transcends time and space between great musicians.

Author of several releases on different labels (Indefinite Pitch, Crescent London, Khoros, Chez KitoKat, Bella Ursa, Spazio Magnetico...) and different media, this DJ and live artist makes his shows real journeys, as dynamic as introspective.

Our next guest After 15 years as a DJ and producer, we can safely say that DOC has traveled through most styles and genres. From hard techno free parties in Barcelona in the ‘10s to disco events in London in the ‘20s, DOC has developed a broad music taste and vinyl collection during his artistic journey.

Some years ago, he landed on a musical planet inhabited by all things deep. DOC has a genre-agnostic approach to his music selection. If it is psychedelic, ritualistic, and hypnotic, it fits. He picks from ambient, techno, breaks, house, dnb, dub, and downtempo to create a trip of his own, aiming at providing both a body and mind experience.

In his monthly podcast, Selene Series, DOC explores the different shapes that mental and psychedelic electronic music can take. Selene Series is a podcast that has been running for 3 years and is released each full moon.
