Second Sundays is a monthly series initiated by Q-O2. Each session a new guest is invited to share an insight into their own listening, playing and speaking about a selection of sound and music that is important to their thinking or practice. For its forty-first edition, Second Sundays invited electroacoustic musician Valérie Vivancos.
Valérie Vivancos creates immersive and concrete soundscapes. Currently based in Paris after 11 years in the Anglo-Saxon underground, she has performed at international venues, festivals, and art events and collaborated with the likes of Carl Stone, Kamylia Jubran and Limpe Fuchs.

A decomposition of a re-transcribed 6-bar extract from "L'Enharominque" by Jean-Philippe Rameau in his Nouvelles Suites de pièces de clavecin (1727). Although the original title's use of the word "enharmonic" seems to refer refer to the multiple harmonic positions held by one pitch, here the original notes are re-transcribed into the actual "enharmonic" genus as it was conceived by the 16th century theorist Nicola Vicentino, resulting in many more transitory pitches.

This performance took place on July 5, 2024, Eglise Sainte Aurélie, Strasbourg, France, as part of the festival Les Habité·es.

L'Enharmonique Decomposed

The two enharmonic madrigals found in "L'antica musica ridotta alla prattica moderna" (Rome 1555), played on a reconstruction of Vicentino's Archicembalo, built by Marco Tiella and Formentelli in 1974. Live performance by Johannes Keller.
