Finnish songwriter in Brooklyn. Rock with folk/dream pop/80s indie/90s alternative/krautrock/psych influences. Debut album out now!

Musically and geographically, Finnish guitarist and songwriter Robin Pahlman has traveled thousands of miles since he recorded and toured with his band Agent Kooper in the early 2000s. Robin started writing songs for a solo album in Seattle, WA, recorded his debut lo-fi acoustic EP in his tiny home studio in Vienna, Austria, toured all over Europe, and wrote and produced his first full-length album “Temporary Everything” in New York City. 

“For this album, I wanted to play more guitar”, Robin says. “I wanted to focus more on guitar arrangements than before, and layer acoustic and electric guitars and some synths in order to create spacey and dreamy textures and moods. For demos, I would start out with a basic drum pattern, loop it, and just layer stuff upon it. In the studio, we recorded the basic tracks live with a band, but for some songs, I still wanted to maintain a certain static vibe in the rhythm section.“ 

“Lyrically, I wanted to acknowledge the bittersweet feeling of nostalgia that I recognize in my friends and myself, as many of us now have entered our 30s.” 

“Originally, it was a person’s attempt to resist nostalgia altogether. However, as the theme developed, it turned into a process of recognizing and owning your own past without getting too sentimental about it – as opposed to adopting the nostalgia of your parents’ generation, which I think is a very present force in literature, film, music, and (political) culture in general.” 

In his music, Robin draws from a wide range of influences, such as dream pop, krautrock, americana, psych rock, country, and folk. As always, melody and mood are important ingredients in Robin’s songwriting. 

Robin Pahlman lives in Brooklyn, NY, where he writes music, plays shows, and serves as guitarist with rock band Howth. His new album “Temporary Everything” was released in March 2016.

I'm a Berlin-based musician/producer from the fair isles of New Zealand. Originally a classically trained pianist, I've been in a couple of obscure bands back in NZ but these days I prefer to focus on solo projects as well as occasionally producing albums for friends. A few of the older tracks presented here have been languishing on my hard drive for quite a few years and I'm happy to be finally getting round to putting them out there. Raw and real: they are an Australian-Italian, acoustic folk duo based in Berlin.

Edwina & Deko crossed paths in a German class in Berlin, far from their seaside homes of Australia and Italy. There they discovered a shared passion for the sound of the 60s and began their duo project touring and songwriting. Deko (Enrico Decolle), is a songwriter, musician and producer from Trieste. Known in Italy through his bands “Alias” and “Breakfast”, he was drawn to Berlin's unique acoustic music scene which inspired his first solo album, The Last Goodbye (2011). For Edwina, originally from the northern beaches of Sydney, songwriting and touring began in Berlin. After recording an EP in 2012, she joined Deko on tour in Germany and Italy. What started as a support act soon became a duo, featuring warm harmonies, raw emotions and a pure acoustic sound typical of the 60s. The pair sought to capture this sound on their first album "Berlin Seasons", recorded in three days, almost totally live, and published worldwide by Monkey Records in March 2014. Edwina & Deko are an on-the-road project. They have taken their music from Germany, Italy and France all the way to Australia. Their new album "Easy Road" is going to be released on 23 April 2016.

November Me is an acoustic pop duo, based in Berlin. On the grounds of canto in two voices, guitar, piano, glockenspiel and electronic miniatures, Sebastian and Eno put their thoughts about all things and episodes into songs, that give your life stability or pull the carpet under your feet. In the same way as our time being is bitter and sweet they're flooding the stage with music, sometimes whisperingly quiet and almost unpleasantly close, then furiously shouting and with embracing singalong lines.
