Juanita's Mix 018 with ADAB @ADAB

Q. How would you describe yourself? (DJ, producer, artist, etc.)
A. I think ADAB is definitely more of an intention to be conjured then a singular moniker for a person. It’s an instance of exploring self/collective through an array of sounds from or influenced by cultures of color and the worlds they influence at large (which are quiet a few). It's also intended to be a direct expression of afrofuturism. A humble attempt to make sets and mixes made for emboldening and envisioning future instances of pan african and POC beauty in dance music.


Q. Any memorable club nights in NY? 
A. My latest memorable club night in NYC is also the last one I was able to spin live before everything shut down. I played Public Records alongside my dear friend CCL and it was a much needed gig/trip. We played a lot of drummy stuff we both love throughout the night and eventually ended on a Jungle/DnB note which was a dream to do with them. The crowd was super into it, outwardly showed love the entire time, and danced their asses off the whole time. It was a blast!


Q. Tell us a little bit about this mix.
A. I decided to finally explore a lot of my 90-100 bpm percussive stuff that I’ve accumulated over time for this one. Up until now almost all my mixes have been above or around 130 bpm so it was nice to slow it down and mess around with this section of my collection. Definitely intended to be a psychedelic hip churner! There's also a few dear homies like CCL, Flora FM, Ali Berger, & Russell E. L. Butler in here as well so big shouts to them for some of these lovely tracks <3 Enjoy!
