Riva Starr and Mark Broom are both huge names in their respective scenes, but put them together and they've got real Star potential. Star B potential that is, the name of their collaborative project which debuted in 2020 and is set to return imminently with an incendiary fusion of house, disco and techno. We were so bowled over by their new Rekids EP 'Love Will Remain' we had to get the pair in the mix for a Juno Daily session...

2022 - what a year. In many ways this was year one PC. The loss we endured turned into love we shared. This holiday is a memory of all we lost and gained, and I have a small gift for you.

Being a man of tradition I want to wish you all a Merry Troxmas with 12 of my favourite live DJ sets of the year. 

Straight from my personal archive, it’s a real mixture of clubs, festivals and, of course, B2B’s from all around the world. It’s been a whirlwind. Something crazy like 24 hours of music, all available on my Soundcloud.

Rejected’s rocky mountain raver Daniel Dubb returns to the label, this time bringing some friends along for the ride.

Last summer was soundtracked by Daniel’s ‘Pieces Of The Past’ album. A body of work that was influenced by meaningful and some life-changing moments from his past. It was an emotional journey and today Daniel returns to rejected having entrusted some of those moments to others, on our Pieces Of The Past Remixes.

First at the controls is UK sensation Huxley, who turns his talents on the warm tones of Flöat. Together with the ghostly vocal and beautiful piano, the Englishman creates a shiver-inducing rework thats topped to perfection by its commanding bassline.

Next up, Dubb teams up with house hero Danny Howells on their Disco Rub of Always. Filters, stabs and a ton of Anglo-Canadian glitter are the order of the day, as the duo present a perfect DJ tool for the floor.

Pound For Pound was our first introduction to the album when it was released back in June of last year. Mark Fanciulli reworked the original into a darker, more techno influenced version. Included again here, its a perfect number for the late night dance floors.

Closing the package is label boss Edwin Oosterwal’s Dub of Rain & Rhythm. Deep, hypnotic and irresistible, its the perfect finalé for this excellent package.

Fresh from his recent collab release on John Digweed’s Bedrock imprint, Martin Eyerer returns to Rejected to fly solo and follow up his popular 2015 outing ‘The Metro’ with two fresh productions, ‘Run Stop’ and ‘Troja’.

The lead track with its commanding vocal is a hypnotic tech tool with its mesmeric and metronomic beats and shadowy synth chords enticing the listener. Label boss Edwin Oosterwal delivers a more arid take on the original, bringing the vocal to the fore and swelling the beats.

Synth chords flourish further on Martin’s ‘Troja’. Its warm purring bass and percussive beats are soon bathed in an enchanting synth melody that lifts us higher and caps another impressive Rejected offering from Eyerer.

Almost a year to the day that he brought us his Contemporay Thoughts, Israel’s Gel Abril returns to Rejected with a brace of tracks that see him in a more reflective mood ...

Having recently launched his own label, Closed Circuits, as a conduit for his own deep and undulating sounds, he again explores the minimal, hypnotic and insistent grooves that have become the trademark of his own kinetic adventures behind the decks on his latest tracks ‘Back Up’ and ‘Alphabet’.

“I had fun working on these, it felt like a natural flow after my latest release "They Groovers" and its sort of looking back to my musical roots."

Backing Gel’s originals is Rejected boss Edwin Oosterwal who turns in another of his fine reworks, adding some bounce and pushing the tempo on the title track. Back Up people!

When he’s not saving Southern Australia with his Tesla built batteries, American entrepreneur Elon Musk is providing musical inspiration for Rejected’s first release of 2018.

Drawn to the studio in what he describes as a ’sci-fi mood’ after viewing a documentary on Musk’s experimental companies, Dutch producer MULDER hit a strain of rapid creativity himself. “After I found the kick and bassline, the rest of the track developed very naturally and was completed in just a few hours.”

Evoking memories of classic GU moments, ‘Elon’ opens with swirling synths, bubbling bass and glistening percussion. Warm yet scything chords enter mid way and together with its vocal runs the track delivers a classic and emotive dance-floor feeling.

Rejected boss Edwin Oosterwal continues his strong run of Dubs with another tightly locked and hypnotic offering. Strong filter action and stunning claps make this an essential selection.

Rekindling their prolific and productive partnership, Poker Flat Recordings label boss Steve Bug teams up with Clemens Kahlcke aka Cle for another important release. The pair go way back, having being friends, DJ colleagues, co producers and label mates for over 20 years. 

Their latest release on Poker Flat, shows they have continued to bring out the best in each other. 'It's Time', the title track, kicks off in fine style - a solid, urgent groove sets the tone, before sharp claps, a thick bass pulse and classic house stabs add the flavour. The pair clearly know how to work a floor. 

Dutch friend and collaborator Edwin Oosterwal brings his own take for the dub version - adding layers of slick percussion and developing the synth melodies into an urgent, upfront proposition.The influence of classic Detroit techno is clear to see. 

Last but not least, the guys pull another rabbit out of the hat with the final track 'Ritual' - their signature infectious rhythms combine a slowly evolving melodic motif which builds and builds in to a true dance floor heater.

A lifelong student at the school of Dance Mania, deft in the dialogue of machine soul: Edwin Oosterwal is driven by timeless soul-laced house and techno. Rooted in the fundamental elements, he’s been entrenched in sonic science since his residency at one of The Netherlands’ longest standing club nights: Basic Grooves.
 
A DJ first and foremost, with over 20 years of stripes to his name including residencies at iconic Amsterdam clubs Trouw and Studio 80 and past performances at key festivals such as Awakenings and Mysteryland and world class clubs from Fabric to Panorama Bar, his ability to fuse between house and techno hits with an insatiable jacking energy. He has a knack of weaving stark stripped-back troughs and dizzying physical peaks; a dark art that’s reflected in everything else he does…

As a label co-boss behind Rejected and Green (imprints he founded with friend and fellow groove craftsman Joris Voorn), the output is characterised by direct dancefloor tracks laced with longevity and strong sense of groove. Releases come courtesy of an array of respected acts ranging from Josh Butler to Steve Rachmad via Ian Pooley, Michel De Hey and of course Edwin himself who has developed a centre-stage role in the label’s output in recent years.

Initially emerging as a producer in the mid 2000s, Edwin’s taken his time to truly hone his craft and steadily build a sonic signature that flexes from deep subtlety to visceral body-shifting energy with an elasticity that resonates through house, techno and all the artful shades between and has been supported by the likes of Loco Dice, Eats Everything and Kölsch. Whether it’s his exciting dub techno project States Of Flux with Roland Klinkenberg or his solo work, his releases shimmer with an ageless aesthetic that’s coded deep into everything he does from the all-out Chicago-style tone hypnosis of ‘Bleep’ to the iced-synth mysticism of ‘Vamp’ via the stately jacks of ‘Elasticity’ and beyond.

Now adding to his roles as DJ, artist and label owner, Edwin can also be spotted broadcasting on Amsterdam radio station Radio Nachtlab with a monthly two hour session Time To Jack. Another way to express his passion for machine soul and his dexterity as a DJ, Edwin’s quest for timeless soul-laced house and techno continues…
