Dortmund-based Producer eeph and vocalist Jani from Leipzig first connected online, sometime before the pandemic, before face masks and travel bans became an everyday thing. After an extensive exchange of thoughts and views on life, work, mental health, and creativity, the first drafts for an EP came into being.

Their three-track piece 'Focus and Distraction' was created through numerous phone and video calls, data transfers, and a clever in-between-lockdowns-meet-up in Dortmund, in September 2020.

'Focus and Distraction' tells about loss, the desire to find healing amidst chaos, and the process of letting go of the past. It explores a transitional phase in which self-reflection and observation become necessary in order to move on.

eeph translates words into music, incorporating Jani's voice and instrumental recordings to create a musical space that offers both familiarity and novelty.
