Nathan has a unique, piano-based ‘Rock & Soul’ sound with a bluesy vibe and emotive lyrics, all showcased with his deeply soulful voice and effortless piano-playing. Nathan writes feel-good songs with an uplifting vintage feel, playing and singing every note with passion, energy and an incredibly natural flair for performing live.

Drawing upon influences that include Elton John, Billy Joel, Sam Cooke, The Beatles, Otis Redding, The Jacksons and Al Green, Nathan writes and performs with emotion, passion and energy. Whilst he enjoys recording and wants people to listen to and enjoy his music, the live performance is where his heart lies.

Born in Shepherds Bush, Nathan started playing piano at the age of six and began writing his own songs as a ten-year-old. Having been a full time musician since leaving school Nathan has ‘found his sound’ in the last couple of years and has been writing and developing his own music to create a very unique style that contains elements of some of the best music of the last forty years.

In Nathan’s words: 

I write old-school piano-based soul with a twist of rock. My up-tempo songs have a kind of bluesy rock n roll feel and my slower songs tend to be in a soulful singer/songwriter style.

Rather than trying to fit a certain style, my songs reflect personal experiences and how I’m feeling, which is probably why they don’t all fit the same mould. I tend to find myself back in that head space when I’m performing and always try to put on a show rather than just play to a crowd.

My main influences have been the piano-playing greats ie Ray Charles, Elton John, and Billy Joel. Al Green and Michael Jackson have also taken up large chunks of my listening time. I sometimes get compared to James Morrison, Jason Mraz and for obvious reasons Jamie Cullum. All very flattering and complimentary but I don’t really think I sound like any particular other artist.

I've always had an old-school approach to music and despite lots of recent changes in the music industry and with technology I still haven't got an iPod. In fact, my CD collection is pretty much the same as it was when I was at school. 
I'm at my happiest when writing or playing in the studio and cramming in three gigs a night. I've played in bands, duos and solo, from as few people as just the bar staff in a small pub to thousands at bigger venues, including entertaining our Armed Forces in the Middle East, Kosovo, Bosnia and around Europe. 

Now it's time to get my own music out to a wider audience so if you like what you hear keep in touch and I hope to see you at a show.
