DETOURNEY is an Undertale AU based on and set in an alternate timeline of Escape from the Dark World in which the tournament never continued past WR2.

Lancer begins to have second thoughts about humoring the Lightners, and calls off the tournament. With no hope of them returning to their home worlds, they spread out across the Dark World and find a place to call their own. Barney has a premonition of what will happen if this imbalance between light and dark persists, and brings it upon himself to get the gang back together.

Barney is the Frisk replacement. Eddy has come to his senses, and through some kind of divine intervention caused by Barney’s determination to make things right, a way for the Lightners to return home has opened! The gang, joined by all the Darkners Barney befriended on his journey, celebrate this happy ending before advancing to the fountain...
