One wrong note and one missed note, few timing slip-ups, little bit too muffled on the settings... But hey, still an alright performance.

[OUTDATED] The First Hunter - Bloodborne

One of the very first proper piano pieces I tried to learn. Still one of my favourites, even if it's very simple. Quite happy with the settings and performance for this one (which is rare for me).

For River - To The Moon

The original performance of this track had a high noise floor and was recorded in mono... I also discarded the midi immediately after playing, so I couldn't just re-capture it. It's taken like 15+ recording attempts to get another clean playthrough because I kept overthinking the piece and messing it up. So I stopped focusing on trying to create a flawless performance and went back to just trying to feel the flow of the piece, lo and behold I get a new recording I'm happy with.

Maybe I'm being depressive or something, but to me, a piano lends itself so perfectly towards the melancholy and the pensive... and this piece really captures that. Also happens to be my mum's favourite piece of piano music so, had to learn it. 

Few timing slipups as usual, but I'm getting sort of sick of practising a piece which has little physical skill required to play... Maybe in a few months/years/never when I'm better, I'd like to have another crack at this, but right now, it's onto the next piece! (Teaser: it's from Undertale and it's very different to anything I've covered in the past)

Recording with correct chords this time... aside from one... see if you can spot it! Also a bit weird on the timing and a heavy keypress or two appears to have auto-compressed itself. All in all, not happy (as usual) but it'll do (as usual).

Special thanks to Arista for introducing me to this song! So many variants and interpretations across so many instruments, I thought I would add mine to the pile.

A couple of small mistakes as ever, but definitely a fluke compared to usual performance quality.

Went back and listened to the original reference performance a bunch, and had some inspiration to re-record this piece. Still one of my absolute favourites, one day I hope to really be able to do it justice

***DISCLAIMER*** This session was set up for a friend, I just stole some time on the piano to do one take of a few pieces! Not happy with playing quality in most of these.

Anyway, the setup was an old (1899 kinda old) Steinway baby grand in my friend Pete's living room, a Steinberg UR-RT4 interface and two AT2020 mics. EQ and mild post-pro performed by Pete Flint.
