Celebrating 40 years of electronic music exploration this year saw the re-release of three seminal works by Bernard Fevre (aka Black Devil),  'Suspense' (1975), 'Cosmos 2043' (1977) and the storied 'Disco Club' (1978). Completing this anniversary year Fevre now returns with three EPs featuring new remixes of his 1978 underground cosmic disco hit 'H Friend' from the likes of Andrew Weatherall, GoldFFinch, Turzi and many more.
 
The first EP (released 13 November) is aimed directly at the dancefloor with remixes from Berlin based duo Africaine 808, French Psychedelic Space Rocker Turzi), Sao Paulo’s DJ Tide, and last but not least world famous British Acid House DJ & producer Andrew Weatherall, who contributes the first of two remixes.
 
The second EP (released 27 November) makes more use of the re-recorded vocals by British singer Jo Apps and features remixes from Adelaide based Luke Million, Belgian Techno duo GoldFFinch, Anglo-French rising stars Loframes and the second of Andrew Weatherall’s remixes.
 
The final EP (released 11 December) is especially dedicated to Japan. 45 years after touring the country with his first band Francs Garçons, Bernard returned to Japan in 2015 for his first solo tour of Japan and was amazed by the music a new generation of artists were creating. Featuring remixes from Carpainter, Oorutaichi, Free Disco Permanent Midnight and Sparrows (the solo project of CRYSTAL’s Ryota Miyake), it’s a wildly eclectic set of remixes that perfectly finishes off this set.
 
A pioneering member of France’s electronic music scene in the 1970s, Fevre’s career entered a new phase in the early ‘00s when his ‘Disco Club’ album was rediscovered and reissued by Richard D. James (Aphex Twin) on his Rephlex label. Since then Fevre has gone on to be sampled by the likes of the Chemical Brothers   and released several new albums on Lo Recordings collaborating with artists such as Jon Spencer, Afrika Bambaataa, Nancy Sinatra, Faris Badwan (The Horrors), Mondkopf and Daniel Avery.

Mannequin Records is proud to announce the release of the Miami 80's synth/goth heroes Life in Sodom, with the repress of their rare first 12'' single "The Stains". This extended edition includes a bonus track - 'Phantasmagoria'- and a friendly dancefloor cut of the title-track by the label head Alessandro Adriani. 

Conceived by vocalist Gerrie Brand, the band was starting out as performance art, and quickly became more as Gerrie surrounded himself with some of the best musicians from the club and art scene in South Florida, including our dear Mystic Bill, who was playing the guitar with the band in the early stages.

Originally self-released in 1991, the single "The Stains" became an underground club hit and charted on many college radio stations, in both the extended and the original version. The single was distributed as a hard to get promo only release. The repress contains also the title-track of the single “Phantasmagoria" - another cult tune for early 90's goth djs - originally released in 1992. Mega tip!

It's all to easy to just describe every Hoga Nord release as Krautrock. It's a lazy cliche but it is so easy to refer to Cluster and Can when listening to so many of their releases, even though Bird of Paradise and the Guv' are also notable for releasing more techier offerings on there...
Osynlige Mann, hailing from Gothenburg is the latest on the Höga Nord Roster, known for his bass skills in bands like URAN GBC and the Exorcist, this marks some solo material on Weatherall's favourite label. 
The track spans timescales in the way that a tardis might and floats in the way a brick doesn't. Tight grooves meld into a impossible jazz rythmns while still keeping a nice tight groove. Hoga Nord have been so prolific for the past few years, never predictable, always quality. This is in keeping with the esoteric nature of the label while still offering something new!

When you've been playing all night long, then some guy leans into the booth and shouts randomly at you but you cant hear him on account of playing music at 120db in his direction, he beckons you over again, and being the polite music selector you are, you lean over again, and again, he shouts something inaudible at you. You smile and nod, aware that you probably have about 2 minutes to mix out but he's still not happy. Looking frustrated he beckons you once more with his hands and purses his mouth into your ears and screams 'FANATICO!'
Gameboyz label Melomana has been quiet the past few months with a release in the summer from Stockholm Syndrome but now they are back with a sludgy slice of Punk Funk with a certain Son of Slough big Duncan Gray on the bass. Fanatico is frenetic, big and bolshy, full of live instrumentation and yet completely dancefloor friendly a little too overfriendly to be honest, it's the sort of track that will have people the other side of the DJ booth beckoning you over to ask what it is... all you need to do is lean over, purse your mouth to their ears and scream FANATICO!

Brainchild of Multi Culti A&R, Sascha Funke and Niklas Wandt were introduced by Dreems, who charted a course for the seasoned Berlin-based producer and funky multi-percussionist and singer. 

Wandt was just about to enter the scene forcefully with his collaborative 2LP with Wolf Müller and the debut single of his band Neuzeitliche Bodenbeläge. In the icey cold of his warehouse rehearsal space, Funke had him record a variety of slapped, bowed and scratched percussions (congas, talking drum, prepared cymbals played with a bass bow) over his tracks. These first efforts were later expanded into joint sessions at Sascha's home studio and, within a few weeks, the journey reached it’s destination: Wibe strasse, Deutschland.

At first glance, they seem an odd couple: a techno veteran of almost thirty years meets a side-burned upstart socialized in Free Jazz and Krautrock. but the shared sonic influences come through in the hypnotic, dubbed-out sound, perhaps rooted in the close connection the two share to the Rheinland region in West Germany, Funke as part of the Kompakt family and Wandt by origin and socialization in the Cologne and Düsseldorf music scene centered around the Salon des Amateurs. Regional flavours, global appeal. Multi Culti, promoting local collaboration, one freaky record at a time.
