Yan Cook is the Ukrainian techno producer unearthed by Delsin sister label Ann Aimee around this time last year. Now he is back with four uncompromising and dance floor focussed tracks on his Morse EP.

'Morse' itself is like a blizzard-y radio transmission of techno from Cold War era Russian – it's a fine grain and grimey tack with big thrusting kick drums and rusty synth lines that just roll and roll. 'Lighthouse' is a little less stormy, instead focussing on a paranoid and insistent synth hook as cantering kick drums rumble below.

'Nylon' on the flip is an aggressive an arresting offering once again. It's a spacious thing with mysterious bell sounds off in the distance, jarring drums and angry percussion all rattling along at a quick and inviting tempo, before closer 'Suspense' keeps you hanging on a knife edged with its loose and jangling melody lines and thumping kicks. This is austere yet atmospheric techno at its finest, just as Ann Aimee likes it.

Headed up by longtime colleagues and collaborators Function (David Sumner) and Inland (Ed Davenport), Infrastructure New York spent the good part of 1998 to 2005 serving up the prolific output of both artists – with a few cameos from others along the way. Following a ten-year hiatus, Infrastructure has now re-emerged as a busy and consistent platform for modern electronic music, marking a new wave of material which has been dormant since Sumner's first material on Sandwell District in 2007.

Since its resurgence, Sumner and Davenport have orchestrated a heavyweight set of releases: ten vinyl releases, two singles from avant-garde composer Campbell Irvine, a reissue of acid classics from Trackman (Mark Archer), a crossover single by Cassegrain & Tin Man, and plenty more. Now comes Infrastructure's next milestone – Facticity. A 4 x 12” vinyl box set, CD and digital format compilation featuring fifteen tracks by key artists, label colleagues and new faces. Function, Inland, Campbell irvine, Post Scriptum, Cassegrain & Tin Man, Rrose, Efdemin, Vatican Shadow, Silent Servant, Blue Hour, Steve Bicknell and Cleric all feature; spinning a narrative that ranges from lush, ambient and post-club diversions, to contemporary floor-orientated techno and back again.

Our highlight off the compilation comes from the reputable Efdemin, whose "Kassiber" is a kaleidoscopic take on the well-versed techno rhetoric. A club-centred number adding to the compilation's comprehensive showcase of widely varying electronic sounds. Facticity represents the foundations of what Infrastructure stands for – a manifesto for 2016 and beyond. We're looking forward to see where things'll go from here.

EarToGround Records ETG004 - Alexander D'niel - Klona Ep - Previews

In the last 12 months, Marco Antonio Spaventi has produced alongside James Priestley on Secretsundaze as well as with Aroy Dee on MOS, and here he returns to said deeper than deep label with two tracks all of his own entitled 'The Jungle' and 'Insanity'.

'Insanity' is, as you'd expect, a mad melange of fizzing electronics, ticking cowbells and swirling atmospheres all pinned to a chugging deep house beat. Raw drum fills and squelchy modulated synth sounds fill nearly every gap, taking you to a place as intense you could imagine for the duration.

On the flip, Spaventi’s lo-fi aesthetic gets even more fucked up as he delves deep into the recess of house music with 'The Jungle'. Crunchy hits, echoing hi hats and a tightly coiled melody all race along next to each other with a slapping drum combination keeping energy levels up down below. Raw and brash yet totally beguiling, it might be some of his best work yet on the ever excellent MOS Deep.
