Various experiments around drum and bass and beyond. With the whole 2024 being a year of narrative/storytelling releases from me, I still find myself branch out in multiple different directions when working with the drum and bass tempos and rhythms.

"The exploration-exploitation dilemma, also known as the explore-exploit tradeoff, is a fundamental concept in decision-making that arises in many domains. It is depicted as the balancing act between two opposing strategies. Exploitation involves choosing the best option based on current knowledge of the system (which may be incomplete or misleading), while exploration involves trying out new options that may lead to better outcomes in the future at the expense of an exploitation opportunity. Finding the optimal balance between these two strategies is a crucial challenge in many decision-making problems whose goal is to maximize long-term benefits."

Beatrice M.'s Bait invites Trois-Quarts Taxi System back into the fold for both the artist’s and label’s debut album release, ‘Plexus’. Leaning into innovative 140 mutations, Trois-Quarts Taxi System dedicates his first long-format release to exploring the depth of this space and stepping away from his usual 170/80 sound. A deep meditative journey of introspection.

Taking the name ‘Plexus’ from a key he found in the street, the album is split into various parts with the heart of album comprised of three parts of ‘Plexus’ - drone-like soundscapes which retrace different states using a variety of acoustic and electronic sounds combined with samples from an anonymous cassette found in the street. This hybridisation of sound is often influenced by ideas Trois-Quarts Taxi System comes across whilst working on his live shows; an artistic practice that is very important to his output. On this occasion, Trois-Quarts Taxi System has used this extended period to explore the bridge between dubstep, techno and experimental, pieced together with quiet ambient moments.

Trois-Quarts Taxi System - Sonar

@swisherman is a Gadigal Land/Sydney-based DJ, producer, and a mind behind DUNJ, one of his city's most revered and respected promoters. When he's not helping to platform some of Gadigal Land or the world's most forward-thinking electronic music, swisherman is contributing to that tapestry himself.

'ONSET' is his latest release, a moody, dark and spacious descent into the backrooms of any DIY space whose location has yet to be revealed. Luscious pads are met with gated ambience, while a growling step of bass bounces off the crisp snap of a snare.

Like much of his work, this is a tour through swisherman's audio-guided mind palace, paying homage to many of the people he's helped to bring to his home. It snaps, to say the least.
