RBR, what is it ?
Founded by french artists @da-iguana & @dokomodo, Reptilian Business Records aims to be an independent label of hybrid music, with the goal of promoting the fusion of electronic rhythms, organic textures, sound design and traditional influences, through the vision of local and international artists of all kinds. From tribal house to UK dubstep, from psychedelic cumbia to dark disco, from slow trance to indie dance, everything that purrs and reflects its scales, which squeaks and waves at the same time: reptilian music.

About the VA "GECKO BLASTER"
This VA puts the spotlight on 8 countries, represented by twenty artists from radically different scenes, from the parisian organic underground to the dubstep soundsystem scene of Brooklyn, to the downtempo and schnekno of Berlin and Frankfurt, swiss lo-fi, japanese experimental, or slow house drawn from brazilian forests, not to mention the participation of locals from the french southwest who offer organic jungle, dark electro or tribal slow trance... A musical diversity which has a common denominator love for psychedelia, distortion, depth of bass and sharp rhythms like the claws of an arboreal monitor lizard.

Part psych, part world, part tribal. The aptly named duo Mushrooms Project have an ease in which they blend a range of unique elements into cohesive and heady pieces of sonic art. Mondo Janga is an EP that avoids formula entirely, and can be club or home centrepieces. In our ears, their signature sound blends playful percussion, and a strong contingent of sample and synth exploration. That sound is showcased perfectly in these 3 tracks. 

Carefully selected artists were enlisted to re-interpret the original visions. With 3 remixes of the title track Multi Culti's Thomas Von Party took Janga to the late hours, with his deep and driving remix. While Twerking Class Heroes put their broken beat bliss stamp on the same and finally a tasteful and elegant organic interpretation by Italy's rising Migra. Finally, Da Iguana slinks his way to another quirky and exciting remix of Mondo that will have you jumpin'.

Mushroom Project - Mondo (Da Iguana Jumpin' Remix) [Random Collective]

From the "Andean Midi Dub" EP of RBR's co-founder @da-iguana
The french reptile delivers a 3-tracks EP (out 2nd of March), going out of his comfort zone to present a different side of his inspiration. Usually going into details and organic textures, this time he went for a raw and electronic approach to get a more ravey sound, without leaving aside his taste for "structured destructuration", quirky samples, cheeky elements and mixing together different music styles.

"Andean Midi Dub" is a "cumbiastep" track exploring a mixture of Pyrenean & Andean feelings with organic percussions, wobbling synthesizers and dub influences.

In a world where many people want to put labels on things and try to squeeze music into certain genres, Ohxala does the opposite and simply creates new styles, bends genres and eventually finds new words for what they do: PONG DISCO. When listening to the tracks of this retro-futuristic and disco-ish EP they have made for us, you’ll know exactly what they mean by that term ;) …
It’s their creative approach to think out of those boxes – boxes that Maria and Luis enjoy to open up, especially if they’re filled with vintage records. It’s their great passion to draw inspiration from old vinyls and collect samples for their extraordinary productions. So the tracks „Upai“ and „Minuhan“ are simply the words of the track’s vocal samples... as easy as it gets!
Accompanied by the powerful remixes of Lola Villa, Da Iguana, Yusuf Lemone, Ali Kuru, Alvaro Suarez, Lui Mafuta & Puste, Geju and Mettabbana you can be sure some closed doors in your head will be opened up. As Cosmonauts, that uncertainty is what we enjoy most: the wonder experienced along the trip, the polychromatic soundscapes revealed after a transition and the playful bounce between colourful beats along a track. In this episode of our podcast series, we bring you Da Iguana, a true sound explorer. This eclectic multi-instrumentalist started wandering the vastness of sound as a guitarist and bassplayer in his childhood and built his talent thanks to an astonishing variety of musical projects. In his mix prepared for UCR, he gifts us many of his latest unreleased tracks which are beautifully blended with past productions. Despite the multicultural flavor and prismatic style of the tracks in this mix, most of them resulted from an inspiring journey he had with his muse through Central America and the Caribbean, much like the voyages green iguanas take across those same lands and waters.
