Rêves et veillées

C'est un lieu qu'on ne présente plus sur la scène nantaise après un été rempli de succès, les Écuries Mellinet accueillent pour la toute première fois Radio DY10 pour une journée placée sous le signe du plaisir, à l'antenne bien évidemment ! Au programme, un petit plateau radio lors duquel nous avons retrouvé Nicolas Bernadeau de Big City Life pour nous parler de ce super projet qui a rameuté bien du monde lors des derniers mois, mais également des Dj's sets de résidents de la radio et attention, line up 4 étoiles pour l'occasion ! Se sont enchaînés derrière les platines Da:mu, Akira, Super Slamon, Symraah puis un b2b entre Oksa et Braz pour clôturer cette belle fête !

Radio DY10 aux Écuries Mellinet invite : Da:mu, Akira, Super Salmon, Symraah, Oksa B2b Braz - Part 1

Vivian Koch (@kochvivian) has real range. For labels like Life And Death, a.r.t.less and AD 93 she has served up everything from IDM to moody breaks, ambient soundscapes to emotive techno. Her most recent album - last year's ominous but hopeful Beyond Contact - was fine proof of that from the Berlin-based artist who started DJing aged just 16. She has since mastered the art of making and playing club music thanks to her residency at Griessmuehle and her own Olympe party series.

She very much eases into this week with a superb ambient selection. It's broad in its remit, with the most beautiful and suspensory pieces bleeding into gently suggestive rhythms. The moods, too, range from mind-emptying bliss to passages of hopefulness and even romance. It's the sort of cathartic listen we all occasionally need to immerse ourselves in as a way of resetting.

Güera, an abstract exploration of identity without any particular conclusion, combines the sounds of digital keyboard percussion, white noise, and two different electric organs while playing with vibrato, delay feedback, and other analog production techniques to create the soundtrack to a time of particular uncertainty in the artist’s life. As the drums sound, distort, and glitch out in an expression of extreme volatility, the melody maintains balance and sounds strikingly innocent at times, and powerful at others. The organs twist and turn throughout the track, transforming themselves through phases of suspense, liberation, and finally into the unsettling sound of a woman singing (or screaming).

Hannah Lee is a producer, sound artist, and DJ from LA, currently based in CDMX. Their work explores the introspective and corporeal possibilities of music and sound by weaving sonic textures built from field recordings, analog instruments, and other found noises. The ever-evolving producer has launched sound experiments in a variety of formats, from long-form ambient projects like their collaboration with Colombian gaita player El León Pardo - 'Y que es el sol para ellos, sino algo que produce sombras?' - to their happy-go-melancholy EP 'Cosas Finas' on the Brazilian label Voodoohop, to club singles in collaboration with Hermetics (Multi Culti) and NTFL (CTM).

Camboja's debut EP “Chasing drinks and shadows” is a spiraling discourse between London and Turin. 
It's a caustic and pungent record, gasping for air in the smoke of the city and the hazy echoes of the past. 
Without the certainty of reaching their destination, each track is dragged into a vortex of shattered frequencies and voices fragments, guided by ponderous basslines and immersed in an infrasound ambience. 
While 'Chasing drinks and shadows' wanders, searching something forbidden, 'Happy for some mysterious reason' sinks in by entering the darkest alleys of memory.

Camboja is a London-Turin based duo project using live electronic improvisation as a mean for blending together hypnotic rhythms, dubwise experimentation and dilated, immersive atmospheres. Trough being members of several collectives such as @sagomesagome and Non Frequenze Festival, they gathered an in-depth experience feeding their take on soundsystem and rave culture. Either live or dj set, Camboja is a full analog experience of oddball dance music.

24 instrumental compositions explore themes of transformation, alienation, and existential anxiety through the lens of lo-fi aesthetics and dark trap. The warmth of Roland's analog synthesizers contrasts with the cold absurdity of modern existence — like Kafka's characters trapped in endless bureaucratic corridors, sounds get stuck between the walls of a tiny room.
The album is a diary of sleepless nights where the boundaries of reality blur, a human transforms into sound, and sound becomes a document of internal trial. Recorded on obsolete equipment in an impossible space, it becomes a testament to how creativity is born not despite limitations, but because of them.
