Gegenwelt (Parallel World) is the second LP by CEL, a duo Kubin and Zemler formed. More melodically-evolved than their eponymous 2020 debut, it is an even more explicit example of the syncretic impulse that impelled these guys to form the band. Their basic notion was to explore the juncture between two streams of German underground sounds -- the Motorik 4/4 rhythms first posited by Can's Jaki Liebezeit and Kraftwerk's Klaus Dinger, and the sequencer-driven brain loops of early, experimental pioneers of the NDW, such as der Plan.

The energy in the room changed in a split second. If only she'd could have kept her mouth shut; hadn't "unintentionally" left a path of destruction for others to clean up - the day ahead would have panned out very differently. Shock had turned to sadness which quickly morphed into anger, making for a potent cocktail of self-destruction... Was that her endgame all along? To drive them to a state of despair, to bring about their downfall and paint herself as a martyr for speaking up in the first place? Surely not, anyone with even an ounce of empathy could only feel awful now...

Nukuluk are back with their singular blend of hip hop, indie and electronica. The South London collective burst onto the scene with their debut EP Disaster Pop in 2021, followed by a run of gigs across London, which were an introduction to both their melting pot of influences and their infectious stage presence. Superglue is their sophomore offering, and it sees the group really finding their stride sonically and pushing the sound further into new realms. There's nods to everything from trip hop, metal and rock to hip hop, dance music and r'n'b, matched with frontmen Syd and Monika's contrasting yet seemingly compatible vocal stylings. 

The track itself ruminates on how we play different characters based on the social environments we're in and how these can change dependent on the circumstances of the situation. The track comes with a video recorded in black & white VHS-style by filmmaker Will Reid which takes a spontaneous approach, showing the band reacting and responding to the track without any prior planning.

What initially began as a weekend break had snowballed into a three month extended stay and a whole new world of unforgettable experiences and close friendships. She couldn't put her finger on what exactly drew her to this place, made her not want to leave and return to her old boring life, it was more a feeling than something you could put into words. It felt like home here, it was as simple as that. 

Following a full long player on his own bORDEL imprint last year, Sebastien Chenut returns under his NEWEM guide for a brand new track featuring the vocal stylings of Prudence. The French producer, who also makes up one half of Scratch Massive alongside fellow bORDEL boss Maud Geffray, fashions an indie dance cut that's packed with emotion and cosmic touches, before passing the mantle to a roster of his contemporaries who put their own spin on the original. There's two reworks from the partnership of DJ Heidi Lawden and producer Hein Hoven under the moniker Heidi Höven, a trippy, crunchy dub from Dave Aju, a celestial remix from Blaacon, rounded off with a retro take from Glasgow’s Soft Riot.

Well, this one certainly won't be a very consensual release, but since we believe life shouldn't be taken too seriously, here it goes. Making its third release of 2023, Extended Records presents the Single “Parabéns Sara!” by Ângelo Selvagem!

The song originated from the idea of offering a birthday present to a friend: Sara (born 27 Nov. 1991). Contacting a mutual friend, who enjoys and knows how to sing (Marta), a musical partnership was proposed. Together they started to write loose stuff... Meanwhile, to a sample of a kizomba beat she added a 4 chord progression: Am7 – BbM7 – Bm7 – BbM7 with an electric piano, very common in the 80s, the DX7. To this were added some strings and a bass line, all from VST's. In the rap part, the drums switch to a more aggressive beat with half the tempo and the electric piano line and the strings are removed to make the harmonic part of the song less defined. The only instrument that was recorded was the voice. The song came about quite spontaneously as it was thought to be written and produced in just two days (that was the time they had left for Sara's return to Portugal).
The idea of the song would be that of a love letter written by Biscoito (Sara's cat) who, seeing himself abandoned by her, on the weekend of her birthday when the owner would have gone to Milan to be with her boyfriend (Capela), writes her a letter congratulating her, while confessing his feelings for her. Meanwhile, Estrelinha, interrupts and continues the said "letter" in rap mode...

The single here presented contains the original version, as well as a shorter version, edited for the highly unlikely eventuality of having some radio play, and is accompanied by 3 remixes by artists from the label: Diogo, Rabu Mazda and DJ Shperma.
