Musumeci is a musical project by Mauro Di Martino, sicilian DJ and producer since late 80s. After two decades of releasing music under several aliases, Mauro merged into Musumeci’s alter ego in 2009.
Constantly in demand as a producer and remixer, his music appears on labels like Diynamic Music, Innervisions, Kompakt, Permanent Vacation, Exit Strategy and more, alongside gigs at the most important festivals and clubs around the world. There is no doubt that Musumeci is one of the standout artists nowadays.

▌I How did you prepare this mix and what was your main inspiration?
I wanted to give the listener a musical summary of my work as a producer. I just love working on new music in the studio, it's a kind of therapy for me. But I also like to be a DJ, that there is now a podcast only with my own tracks was in the end a little coincidence. But it´s 100% me and i think it couldn't be more personal.

▌II Which tracks marks a highlight in your set?
It's one of those things with liking..., I love all the tracks but at the same time I get annoyed with them sometimes. But my little highlight is the second track, „Thorn“. I did that with my close friend Ronny (Mollono.Bass) under our alias Green Lake Project. 
I love spending time with him and he's one of those people you just like to have around all day.

▌III Could you take us through a day in your life, from a possible morning routine through to your work?
This is how it usually works for me:
Get up at 8 o'clock in the morning. How it really works is more like this... I start the night before to set the first alarm clock at 7:30. From then on it rings every 5 minutes until I finally fall out of my bed, of course totally annoyed, because it´s 8:10 allready . In this critical phase of the day, not even Iron Man would dare to address me. 
On the direct way to the espresso maker I then make my way to the bathroom to brush my teeth and as soon as I hear that the coffee is ready, I stand with the cup in hand ready for my morning liter of youth and inspiration. 
Depending on the day, I sit around 08:30 freshly dressed in the car on the way to the 3000Grad office or in the dirty T-shirt from the day before in my studio. 
Around 14:00 either the hunger or my dear girlfriend reminds me of my breakfast and after the second studio round, (around 18:00) i try to end my work. Except on days like today ;-) (22:19) 
In the evening I like to go for long walks with my girlfriend and enjoy the time with her. 
00:00 I lie in bed with remorse, because I have forgotten the last half hour … absolutely lost in social media.

"I don ´t specify my music. I simply play and produce what I love."

And that's what Marcel Sterling alias Marc DePulse wants to tell us with his releases and podcasts: there is no box into which you must fit in because you are free in your mind to do whatever you love. Being real, being authentic, being a full time music lover. That means: go to bed and wake up with only music in your head.

Whoever shed some tears while listening to emotional music can relate to what Marc is trying to achieve. It has to be ?music to remember? and make a big impact. And that could be a melody, a baseline, steady percussion or strong vocals. Marc has already connected a lot of that love with his music. In more than a decade represented by the strongest labels (150+ releases) and performing on the biggest international stages, Marc has established as a unique producer and DJ.

In 2014 he released his first single "No need to worry" on Noir Music. Another feature with the amazing Hollis P Monroe & Overnite has been released on Heinz Music. The single called "Dirty Deep DePulse" is a perfect name to describe Marcs sound.

This year the shuffle machine continues with remixes on Noir Music, Katermukke, Traum Schallplatten, Heinz and single releases on Tulipa and Einmusika Recordings. According to these productions Marc started a brand new blog and podcast series called "How I Met The Bass".

Marco started Djing in his early 20’s inspired by all the blend of sounds electronic music can offer. At an early age he started to play piano which helped afterwards in his understanding of music.

In 2009 he was already resident of several local clubs in Lima (Peru), such as Gotica, Aura, Bizarro and also hosted a radio show in a collective local radio called “Radio San Bolsa”.
 
In 2012 was his first time playing outside Peru in the legendary Chilean club called Club del Sol “Sunshine”, next to Matanza, Butano and other local scene clubs; also played in Ecuador’s capital city, Quito. He released his first EP on the legendary label King Street Sounds.

In 2013 he got booked for 2 WMC parties in Miami which helped getting contact with other producers from around the world. Also that year was his first release on a mayor label with “Music Makers” (Original mix) on Get Physical Music. Then he returned to Ecuador and Chile with Jay Haze to Play at “La Fabrica”.

In 2014 he signed off with Toolroom Records which gave him the chance to explore his deep side taking part of the “Poolside Series”. Also he was invited to host the Deep tent in Viña del Mar’s “Ministry of Sound” event, next to Patrick Hagenaar.

He returned to Ecuador and got his first Mexican Tour playing in Mexico City, Playa del Carmen and Tulum, on venues such as Tara, AmLocal, Mezcalina, Blue Parrot and Gitano Tulum.

In 2015 he released his first EP on Rebirth’s sub label “Stereomono”, alongside his good friend Room 303. Also he returned to Playa del Carmen where he made lots of good friends and had a special connection with local people.

This past year was a breakthrough one for Marco as an artist since he got his first European tour. He visited Ibiza for the first time, playing in 2 different parties; also had a gig in Berlin at Katerblau Bar.
At the end of the year he had the honor to be part of one of the best upcoming new events in Playa del Carmen called “Coincidance Party”, which was a 3 days festival.

In 2016 he debuted at the BPM Festival and will stay in Playa as main base, with residences on local cutting edge clubs. 

During his career he has collaborations and remixes with artists like NU, Jay Haze, Paolo Mojo, Cari Golden, Dennis Ferrer, Kruse & Nuernberg, Greg Pidcock, Jey Kurmis, Teenage Mutants, Den Ishu and more.  Also his past includes  releases on labels like Get Physical, Rebirth, Toolroom, Café del Mar, Armada Music and King Street sounds.
