Release Info: Here we have one huge collaboration! On one side we have Romanian artist Bross, which, as you know, snapped out a release for, probably at the moment, one of the strongest labels on the world, All Day I Dream, and on the other, experienced deep and progressive house producer, also head manager of The Purr, Marijan Raskovic aka Jelly For The Babies. The symbiosis of ideas of these two performers has led to the fact that we can enjoy listening to a song called "Alhena". Just one important point, which led to this song being made: "Gamma Geminorum, formally named Alhena is the third-brightest object in the constellation of Gemini." It was Alhena who was the inspiration for the melodies that accompany the already recognizable rhythms and moments of recent deep house music, so you can easily conclude who was in charge of what in this song. Perfect combination, no doubt! For such a good song we had to choose the remixers carefully, where on remix duty we have superstitious duo LADS, who were making their great appearance on Lost & Found, and, our crucial member of the family, OHMZ!

Following his excellent ‘Rhy’ EP last October, Tim Engelhardt crafts a spellbinding return to Watergate Records.

A prodigal talent at just 22-year-old, Cologne’s Engelhardt stands at the vanguard of Germany’s new breed of electronic music talent. Prolific and passionate in equal measures, the artist has kept busy during lockdown sharing a series of tracks and edits he’s made on Bandcamp titled ‘The Notebook’. His refined production approach gets better with each release, as exemplified by his latest offering, ‘Rooted’. 

The title track introduces itself with a punchy kick drum pattern, before a brew of organic percussion and a multi-layered key sequence give the track a memorable bite. ‘Brought to Bare’ combines golden soundscapes, rolling beats and bubbling drum lines. ‘Future Matter’ illustrates his finely developed sound design skills, as delicate strings rub shoulders with a building melody line and a sturdy low groove that hits with chugging impact after the break.

Hotly tipped newcomer Yulia Niko joins the Watergate collective, delivering an exciting label debut to mark the occasion.

The Russian-born, Berlin-based artist has piqued the ears of heads with quality releases on Crosstown Rebels, Get Physical and her own TochnoTechno imprint. She steps up for Watergate Records with an inspiring maiden EP, augmented by remixes from YokoO and Francesco Mami.

‘Manifesto’ is the intriguing opener, as intergalactic synths rub shoulders with a chugging groove for an ultra-cool finish. ‘Passion’ is heavy on vibes, pairing an enchanting vocal with a colourful bed of percussion. YokoO contributes a subterranean ‘Defragmentation’ remix of ‘Manifesto’ on the minimal tip, before adding some warmth to the palette teaming up with Francesco Mami for a ‘Vegas Mix’ primed for the afterhours with its deep grooves and shuffling beats. ‘Hurts So Slow’ reinforces Niko’s versatility, imbuing a dusty house vibe primed for late night sessions.

'Todd Terry protégé Ant LaRock has provided some gems for Exploited Ghetto previously in the form of ‘Grown Ups’ and ‘When’, and this latest effort are by far his strongest productions to date.
‘For You’ is a spacious, heads-down, pacey deep house / tech romp with soft acid tones, pulsing stabs, shuffling beats and a whistling arpeggio which pulls you into the delicious depths of Ant’s artistry. It’s the type of track that makes you pull that satisfying stink face, it’s so darm good.
This is one of two tracks on Ant’s latest release, the other track named ‘Alkebulan’, which centres around a rousing Afro chant, and splices deeper house and techno flavours in equal measure. Roland Clark’s vocal gives a dramatic edge, spinning a narrative yarn over the peppy percussion and subby bass tones. Blasts of low-slung synth drama swoop in and out dramatically before they switch to an uplifting chord progression.'
