The album beings with ​TVA’s ​​Marechiaro, an ambient and melodic wonder that floats you into a dream-like state. ​Kincaid & Sinal ​​provide a darker beat on ​Gibberish - ​creeping synths are complemented by a psychedelic guitar sample, whilst ​Trails Of Snails ​from ​Uriah Klapter ​​creates a twisted and drone-like atmosphere. ​Omri Smadar ​​takes the reigns next with his tribal drum-infused ​Drum Odyssey ​which leads into the bouncing kick of ​Speaking Minds & Amarcord’s ​​Dancing Under Bright Lights, ​taking you on a journey deep into space.
Label head ​Alex Niggemann ​​continues the cosmic journey with ​Orion - ​heady bass and glitchy beats are laced with a small, harmonic synth section. This flows perfectly into the synth-led, broken-beat vibe of ​Third Son’s ​​Hypernormalisation. The next offering comes from LPZ ​​who continues with the broken-beat theme adding a crescendo of clashing cymbals on ​In My Mind.​ ​Echonomist ​​delivers the penultimate track in the shape of ​Loosing Less a driving number with a racing and pulsating heartbeat. ​Radeckt ​​closes the album on a high with ​Raven - ​a carefully crafted, playful slice of techno.

His music knowledge is legendary and shows itself in his productions which are filled with sparkling details.

Speaking Minds & Amarcord make a welcome return to AEON with the Cosmic Friday EP, a moving five track release that features stunning remixes from scene heavyweights Fort Romeau and Moscoman.
“‘Cosmic Friday’ comes from the attempt to merge Krautrock influences with a blade runner-esque vibe while keeping the structure of a modern dance music record. ‘Drums & Oscillators’ instead is simply what the title recalls: a live session made with a Korg MS-20 recorded on a single take which remained unchanged. With the night drive mix the record has been turned into a slowly burning acidic tune for the darkest night drives.” Speaking Minds & Amarcord.
Cosmic Friday begins the EP powerfully, as a synth filled bassline rolls up and down before ethereal pads lead into rustling hi- hats. Fort Romeau’s Humanoid mix of the title track comes next, featuring distorted keys that pave the way for a moving piano chime, before Drums & Oscillators ratchets up the pace with subtle pulses and vibrating basslines. Moscoman’s Remix of Drums & Oscillators is another powerful dance number, as a chunky, wobbling rhythm is complemented by emotive violin calls, whilst the Night Drive Mix rounds off the EP with breakbeat-esque percussion and a penetrating acid solo.
Speaking Minds is a founding member of AEON alongside Alex Niggeman and Denis Horvat. Fellow Italian Amarcord is no stranger to the scene, having teamed up with Speaking Minds on the Mermaid’s Chant EP released on Canadian imprint My Favourite Robot Records. Esteemed record enthusiast Fort Romeau has produced standout releases for the likes of Running Back and Spectral Sound. Moscoman is the proprietor of respected imprint Disco Halal, and is a prolific producer and remixer, releasing on labels such as ESP Institute and Life and Death whilst similarly remixing the likes of Man Power and Bawrut.

It illustrates the warmth and richness of ethnic instruments and the emotions that visual images may elicit. The tracks featured are mixed with deep, energetic electronic rhythm and atmosphere to travel along a musical journey. Second, it is organic by being rooted to nature, in connection with the essence of life. Organic contrasts with the technological world, which tends to distance people from the essence of life over time. PREMIERE: Speaking Minds & Amarcord - Cosmic Friday (Fort Romeau's Humanoid Mix) [Aeon]

Awkward Moments is the brainchild of producer and DJ Mimi Xu, who’s mostly known for curating and writing fashion show soundtracks, and classically trained multi-instrumentalist MAGUIRE. The duo wrote their debut single ‘A Blooming Attraction’ in preparation for their AV live performance at Houghton Festival 2018. 
The music video, which was created by Frankfurt-based visual artist Maily Beyrens, deals with the fusion of energy in a scientific sphere, and more metaphorically in the sense of romantic connection. 
Inspired by the visual art concept of Expanded Cinema, the music video gives a sneak peek into the duo’s hypnotising AV performances. Those multidisciplinary live shows reject the traditional one-way relationship between the audience and screen, with the visuals being projected onto the artist during the performance.
The track sees Mimi Xu layer electronic beats and synths over the organic sounds of MAGUIRE’s viola and piano. The result is a blissful sonic journey through ambient, experimental and electronica.
‘A Blooming Attraction’ will be released on November 22 as the first single from Awkward Moments’ debut album, An Entropic Cycle, which will come out via their newly launched imprint Entropic Cycles in March 2020.

Over the last month, the music and events industry has entered unchartered territory due to the Covid-19 lockdown, and artists and online media have found themselves in a financially vulnerable position with much more time on their hands.

To help some of those artists, and provide Ransom Note with much-needed financial support, three weeks ago we reached out to some friends of the website with the challenge to make a track in collaboration with another producer, musician or vocalist, remotely, in 10 days. The result is ‘Pen Pals’: a compilation featuring 15 collaborations from 32 artists.

Due to the current situation we’ve increased royalties for all artists involved and, whilst the Covid-19 lockdown restrictions apply, accounting will be processed fortnightly. Profits from the compilation will also provide financial support for Ransom Note who have been heavily impacted by the halt of the events industry.

The mid-morning sun illuminated the dust particles floating gently in front of the open window. The way each particle slowly drifted added a certain stillness to the atmosphere. It felt tranquil, but tranquillity was so easily and quickly disturbed. The slightest breeze could sabotage the idle nature of these levitating particles, causing them to fly around in chaos and confusion, before eventually returning to their peaceful state. 

‘Call Waiting’ is the opening track from Stranded’s new self-released EP, Long Dusk. A strong disco beat drives the song, as dissonant synths stab in between the reverb-drenched vocals and funky plucked guitars. Marking his sophomore release following his debut EP Celine’s Dilemma, which came out in 2018 on Optimo Music, Long Dusk is inspired by road trips through the American countryside, made amidst the artist’s move from Nashville to Atlanta.
