Cristina Lazic flexes her production skills on Rebellion. Following her first EP on the imprint called Burning, the shesaid.so affiliate delivers a minimal techno-flavoured EP titled Personal. She teams up with Italian-born vocalist Shar to pen a beautiful, dancefloor-driven EP, conveying emotive vocals paired with smooth and sleek production.

Lazic describes the root of Personal. "I consider 'Personal' a nice sequel to my previous EP on Rebellion," she says. "'Like 'Burning,' it includes a variety of genres and moods. In particular, the three tracks recorded with Shar—whom I met thanks to shesaid.so—continue my exploration of the concept of women empowerment—which is very important and "personal" to me, through the metaphors of time, controversy and self-reflection."

The title track opens with a robust bassline and stripped-back percussive elements, allowing Shar's sultry vocals to ripple through the soundscape. You And Me feat. Shar comes next, with an upbeat melody that slinks between understated drums. A slow-burning, sexy number that's perfect for an after-hours session. Like the title suggests, Feel The Groove is the ultimate groover. Lazic illustrates it as a "groovy track with a male voice that wants to convey a happy, minimal deep mood, and nicely complements the other three tracks." Closing tune Mirror (Set Opener) feat. Shar stems from the Burning EP. On the Personal version, Lazic pens a purring bassline and acid-tinged synth notes, delivering an ideal dancefloor warmer-upper.

Born in Milan but raised in London, Cristina Lazic started out playing the piano as a child and has since evolved into an electronic artist in demand. The shesaid.so member has released on several esteemed imprints, including Crosstown Rebels' Rebellion, Bondage Music and Creature Records. As a DJ, she combines dark and sultry techno with uplifting house textures, rumbling the walls of Hï Ibiza, Magazzini Generali in Milan and Le Salon Daomé in Montreal. Cristina hosts frequent radio shows on Ibiza Global and Sonica and leads the parenthood committee of shesaid.so, focusing on safeguarding the interest of artists with children. Despite balancing multiple roles, including a job in tech and motherhood, music remains centric to Lazic's output. Born in Italy but raised in California, Shar is a songwriter, ghostwriter and presenter on Ibiza Sonica. Based between Ibiza and London, she runs the soon-to-be-released online platform weareunlabeled.com in addition to her production company called UNLABELED THINKING.

 Nici Frida - Bio: German born, Frankfurt based dj/producer Nicolas Friederichs known as Nici Frida or Nihasa.

In the age of 15 Nici Frida has begun to experiment and produce his own beats on the computer with his first music software of propellerhead reason. His first release ''streets'' published on a various artist album of embi music in 2013. Now he has published releases on serval label around the globe. In addition to his great passion, to collecting &amp; mixing deep/tech house records, he started in the age 18, to mix his sets every weekend for the visitor of a small scene bar, named ''kleinlaut &amp; brown'' in the city of frankfurt.

Two years later he already had bookings and gigs in clubs like the legendary U60311, Dora Brilliant, Mtw Club or Tanzhaus West. Now since 2012 he is resident-djs of the party Beatgreed, which takes place in different clubs and locations in frankfurt.

 Sergio Collado - Bio: Sergio Collado a deep techno and house DJ/Producer, born in Barcelona, Spain and  lives in frankfurt, germany.  Since he was child he has a big passion for music.  At the age of 17, he began exploring the clubs of the Rhine / Main area with his friends and in 2009 he met Nici Frida, who by this Gme was already a well known DJ in Frankfurt clubs. So was Sergio Collado started to accompany him on all his performances. Early in 2011, Sergio Collado decided to finally get behind the turntables and producing,receiving a very good feedback as he discovered his passion for electronic music.

The Swiss duo Sous Sol is on a roll with recent production work for Hive Audio, Re:FreshYourMind, Cyclic Records and Bondage Music. 

Based in Luzern, Lukas Meyer and Teo Fionom began their journey together in 2011 and now they are well established in the local scene and making serious waves across Europe.

Here at the WH Towers we immediately fell in love with their deep, dreamy and crispy sound of the original executed to perfection. We are are not afraid to describe this one of our best releases for quite some time. 

The original is backed up by a quality remix from Bondage Music owners Pornbugs from Germany. They turn in a slightly tougher version but stay loyal to the original. We have been fans of both their own productions and their label for years so it's great to have them on board. 

Beatport release: 5th September. Official release: 19th September.

Motek Music is a transatlantic electronic music label launched in 2014 with bases both in the US and the UK. With their third compilation they present the first Journeys series, where they will showcase the talents from selected parts of the globe. This compilation focused on US, showcasing the strength of the country’s underground scene with 12 tracks that cover a mix of melodic deep house and tougher dance floor focused tech house and techno sounds. 

This time we have a song with some smooth vibes, some groove and a nice techy-side from Martin Aquino [Akbal] & Ryan Pamatmat, both coming from the West Coast of the US, San Franscisco. 

Martin’s obsession with the music and his sound naturally led to music production. Since 2011, he’s already recorded well-received singles for labels like Resopal Schallware, One Records, District Raw, Surface and Akbal Music. Martin’s production, while riding the border between house and techno, keeps a leg deep in the sound of the underground. He strives for music that is organic and eclectic while still rawly effective in the nightclub.

Being signed to labels such as Bass Works Recrodings Japan, System Recordings, Asia Music and Celestial Recordings to name a few, Ryan’s productions have gained support from greats such as John Digweed, Luciano and Terry Francis to name a few and has had numerous radio plays and reviews across the globe. His debut release on Plastic City with Pav Parrotte entitled, "Jog On! EP" was one of the highlights of his career as a producer in 2013.

Mihai Popoviciu delivers his third album and 6th release of his already long career via Poker Flat Recordings. The unassuming producer and DJ from Cluj, Romania (where he still lives), has earned plaudits from fellow producers and dancers alike, releasing on the likes of Highgrade, Desseous, Bedrock and his own label, Cyclic. 

Motion Manifold is a bold expression of his craft - each track shot through with that instantly recognisable Popoviciu texture and vibe.  This is an album experience rather than a collection of dancefloor cuts - although it works in that respect also - its 10 tracks give off a sense of completeness that demands re-listening. 

Milky starts it off - a crisp, bouncy groove sets the tone before a deep subby bass and a delicious melodic line arrives. Understand maintains the deepness - a submerged groover that skips along via Popoviciu’s slick sense of drum programming and less-is-more approach. Double Clap is a notch harder, taking us deeper into the club. The groove is augmented with some juicy 303 moments, and deft use of vocal samples.

Popoviciu’s strong love of house chords and deep textures are evident in much of the album, not least in Going Around and Apricot.  Sleepwalking has a dirty basement feel - the loopy bass and acid lead synth add a hypnotic, late night vibe to proceedings. 

In contrast, Later That Day and El Classico are more uplifting cuts, seemingly meant to be experienced in the sunshine, and featuring highly infectious percussion and a warm, positive vibe. 
 
Cosinus sails close to Larry Heard territory, with a grooving, atmospheric bassline and fizzing, emotive synths and pads. Last up, Chrome ends the album in perfect style - another example of pristine sounding deep house that rolls out smoothly from the speakers.
