For the special few who really love my music. Here is a track I love from my forthcoming album 1984.

MAGGOTRON - Mission electro

"Suddenly, I stop..."  

The song title gives you a few clues as to where the inspiration for this latest Interbay track has come from, though, as ever, the end result ends up sounding a lot like...interbay.  

My first thought was that I wanted a high up on the neck bassline like Hooky dropped onto New Order's ceremony--and the bassline I came up with here is an homage to that...  

Then, I wanted to include some of club/dance electronics that New Order put on "Blue Monday" (or the b-side to that single, "The Beach").  You can definitely hear the influence of that on the beat, and especially the claps.  

Then I wanted to blend those two very-specific-to-their-era New Order sounds with the more modern rave house sounds found on their "Technique" album.  For example, you'll hear a growl that reminds me of "Fine Time."    

You'll even hear a cowbell--perhaps a tip of the cap to "The Perfect Kiss"?

...but, I didn't want to make a pastiche various eras of New Order.  So, remembering "The Walk" by The Cure, I threw another grittier sounding bassline behind the Hooky-style melodic bass.  

Somehow, a bass one-shot (which is definitely NOT a sample) that sounds like it was yoinked from Wings' "Goodnight Tonight" (but it wasn't) snuck into the mix in a couple of places.  

And because one of the rules that I play by here on SoundCloud is that every track posted here needs to have some sort of vocal element, I slipped in a couple of processed and echo-drenched vocal samples from a fairly obvious (to people my age or those into what I'm into) source.  (In fact, this is the second Interbay track to sample vocals from this same artist--bonus Interbay points if you can figure out which other track does too!)  

And there are some nods to a synth funk influence in some of the synths and melody lines, and a laugh near the end of the track which reminds me of Gorillaz--which doesn't feel appropriate to any of the chosen influences of thiis song--but, I think it helps the track be as danceable as it is...and it also helps it sound like Interbay.    

I'm a particular fan of this track--I know I would have spun it when I was a nightclub dj and I know I would have included it on mixtapes I'd give to friends and unrequited crushes (which is what we did in those days.)  

I hope you become a fan of this track--and the daily (so far!) postings of Interbay tracks here on SoundCloud.  Give this track a play...and then, if you feel like giving it a like, or re-posting it, or sharing it, or commenting on it, or putting it on one of your playlists, or giving this SoundCloud page a follow...go for it!  Nothing would make me happier.  

...and, at the very least, just giving this track a listen would work a treat, full stop.
