As a child at 5 years of age, I started singing (both solo and choir) and acting in plays at School, Church/Sunday School and on stage in local halls. I started learning to play the guitar at age 14; and joined my first soul band as a vocalist a year later.  Then joined a Glam Rock/pop band, then a blues band; and then an original/covers Funk band (based at one of Cambridge Universities) where we played at quite a number of their May Balls functions and other events. Throughout the years that followed I took more to singing than playing the guitar as that's where my passion lies.

As a Vocalist/Frontman and guitarist; I've performed in semi-professional bands at a range of functions and venues like pubs, weddings, parties, balls, social clubs, hotels, nightclubs, universities, corporate functions, military bases, festivals, barbecues, charity events and even a vessel on the river Thames. I've won singing competitions (solo, band and karaoke); done session (live and studio).  As a songwriter; I've written several songs, and been offered a publishing deal with one of them.  Have attracted strong interest from record companies - strongest from Arista Records (back in the day).

I have a distinctive powerful vocal sound/style (natural and falsetto).  Because my voice is powerful, it's been said; you don't need a microphone with a voice like that!  I can also get an audience motivated with ease.  Some say; I'm like a James Brown; sounds like Errol Brown - in some of the high notes; Levi Stubbs & Teddy Pendergrass - because of my gravelly voice; Eddy Grant - I suppose because of the Caribbean accent when singing reggae. But all that is debatable…because I know I have my own original distinctive vocal sound and dancing style.

Several years’ experience singing live - soul, Motown, Disco, Funk, Reggae, Soca, Jazz, Blues, Rhythm'n'Blues, Rock'n'Roll and Rock.  I've recorded in home and professional studios - such as Chapel Studios, Lincolnshire, UK.

I’m also experienced as an Actor/Supporting Artist/Extra & Photographic Model.

As a Vocalist, Frontman, Songwriter, Backing Vocalist, and Guitarist, I am a force to be reckoned with.

People often remark, "With a voice as powerful as yours, you don't need a microphone!" They suggest I should be earning a living through professional singing.

My musical journey began at the tender age of 5-6, singing solo and in choirs, and acting in plays at church, Sunday school, primary school, and local halls. By 14, I had taken up the guitar and soon joined my first soul band as a vocalist. This path led me through a Glam Rock/pop band, a blues band, and eventually to an original/covers Funk band based at one of the Cambridge Universities in the UK, performing at their May Balls and other events. Gradually, I shifted my focus more towards singing, which is my true passion.

As a Vocalist, Frontman, and guitarist, I have performed with semi-professional bands at a variety of functions and venues, including pubs, weddings, parties, balls, social clubs, hotels, nightclubs, universities, corporate functions, military bases, festivals, barbecues, charity events, and even on a vessel on the River Thames. I have won singing competitions (solo, band, and karaoke) and participated in both live and studio sessions. As a songwriter, I have composed several songs, one of which landed a publishing deal, and attracted significant interest from record labels, especially Arista Records.

My voice is uniquely powerful in both natural tone and falsetto, often leading to comments that I don't require a microphone. I can effortlessly captivate an audience. Some compare me to James Brown, or say I echo Errol Brown's higher notes, or match Levi Stubbs and Teddy Pendergrass with my raspy voice, and Eddy Grant when I sing reggae with a Caribbean accent, and Tom Jones with the intensity. However, this is debatable, as I consider my vocal sound and dance style to be uniquely my own.

With extensive experience performing live in genres such as Soul, Funk Motown, Blues, Jazz, Disco, Reggae, Soca, and Rock my journey continues.

International House DJ, Producer, Radio personality, Tastemaker and label boss just about sums up DJ Pioneer. A DJ since the age of 17, Pioneer’s passion for music hasn’t changed one bit as his career becomes more successful. His unique mixing ability and handpicked selection is renowned for providing an electric vibe for clubbers and radio listeners across the World. 

Originally influenced by the sound system culture and then jungle music, Pioneer started collecting vinyl whilst at school before he owned a pair of decks. He is no stranger to House and Garage music. Up until 2008, Pioneer had played on several giant Pirate Radio stations including Pure Magic, London Underground, Y2K and Déjà Vu FM. Playing at legendary events such as Pure Silk, Exposure, Sun City and Pure Old Skool to name a few. Pioneer also worked at the ‘Wired for Sound’ record store in his hometown Hackney from 2001 until its closure in 2009. This helped him to understand and appreciate other genres of music more and inspire his taste for new sounds. 

Amongst others, Pioneer was responsible for bringing a new genre to the streets in 2006. UK Funky was emerging, influenced by the Soulful, Funky House and broken beats that Pioneer was playing at the time. His hard work and ever popular club sets and had not gone unnoticed and in 2008, Pioneer progressed to legal radio and joined Kiss FM. In 2009, Ministry of Sound released the compilation ‘The Sound of UK Funky’ mixed by DJ Pioneer. Pioneer featured tracks from Robin S, Ultra Nate, Crazy Cousinz and more. This received great feedback and allowed Pioneer to feature some of the tracks he was responsible for breaking into the scene. In 2010, Pioneer began producing and made his debut with a Funky House track titled ‘Stronger’ featuring Egypt which received great support from the underground, mainstream radio and Sky TV and was also performed at the London Fashion Week.  

Pioneer is now into his 7th year on the UK’s leading dance radio station, Kiss FM. In this, time, he’s championed and played tracks which have eventually progressed onto commercial radio playlists with acts such as MK, Rudimental, Dennis Ferrer, Roska, Donaeo, Kenny Dope, Black Coffee and more recently the chart topping Storm Queen

Pioneer launched his record label in 2012, SOTU (Sounds Of The Underground) Recordings. With 12 releases to date and loads in the pipeline, the label is already proving to be success as it represents the sound of the UK club scene genres from Underground House to Bass and is home to some of the finest up and coming producers. DJ Pioneer has also remixed tracks for world famous Universal Records and has also had one of his remixes signed by Puma for their Cobra Golf advertising campaign and the ‘Cobra Golf Orange Out’ iPhone app. Pioneer’s latest single ‘Circles’ stayed at no1 in the Maltese PRS charts for 3 weeks in November 2014.

Pioneer continues to headline countless clubs up and down UK and also plays at major festivals such as HD (High Definition) and made his debut at the Isle Of Wight Festival in 2014 where he played to over 75000 people on the main stage.

Internationally, Pioneer plays regularly in Ibiza, Amsterdam, Dubai, Barcelona, Marbella, Egypt, Ayia Napa, Faliraki, Kos, Kavos, Jamaica, Mallorca, The Gambia and Northern Cyprus.
