47 regular Scalameriya returns with a collection of maximalist peak-time scorchers.

Serbian DJ and producer Scalameriya—AKA Nikola Grebovic—has been delivering a relentless, linear churn of hard-hitting techno for more than a decade. Grebovic is no stranger to 47, having released two standout EPs—47018 and 47024—in 2018 and 2020, respectively. 47031 sees the Serbian artist make a pulverizing return to the imprint with one of his dirtiest and best-engineered collection of tracks yet.

On his latest release, Scalameriya strikes a particularly fine balance between deranged distortions and lean loops fit for the dance floor. Crisp, efficient and grating, "Farewell Refrain" channels the maximalist, muscular stomp of his past releases, while "Nervstinger" courts chaos with its screeching sound design. The B-side showcases more intricate rhythmic dynamics, beginning with "Rokbokx;" this functional tool is forefronted by percussion, offsetting piledriving kicks with feedback and semi-intelligible shouting that scythe through the noise. But it's "Xlog.No.153" that most distinctly ties Grebovic's EP to the 47 canon, using powerful breaks to steamroll the punishing EP to a close. Released back in 2020 as EI8HT’S eighth release, label boss Eats Everything unleashed the ‘8 Cubed’ EP on the imprint he curates alongside Andres Campo. An EP brimming with modern and utilitarian high tempo techno jams, the bustling collection featured eight club pumpers, showcasing the pacier side to Eats’ sound.

Two years on, and a raft of remixers have been enlisted to reinterpret, rework and remix some of the tracks from the release.  On Volume 1, Italian techno titan Marco Faraone serves up a tight and relentless groove on his remix of Voicenote, featuring the guest appearance from Chi-town house royalty Felix Da Housecat.  And Bristol based rising star edetto locks in a rattling and rasping version of ‘Wreckage’.

People of the Light continue to build a storied catalogue of releases, and for their latest - label supremo Jay Hill prepares something a little special. “Believe in Me,” releases on Friday, October 25, 2024 and brings together 2 outstanding remixers that make this one mean something more. Renowned for an ability to blend melodic intricacies with driving rhythms, Jay delivers two compelling originals, two tracks that show the two sides of her personality, split between a more peak time techno vibe and a more rhythmic house number. “Believe in Me” and “Already Broken” showcase Jay’s signature sound characterized by deep, pulsating bass, immaculate beats, and a whole load of club-ready weight.

The EP is taken to further heights by standout remixes from producers Porchcrawler and James Chang. Porchcrawler (Harvey Barker) remix of “Believe in Me” infuses the original with a fresh - Detroit style. Vibrant energy that works to craft a dynamic groove and addictive rhythm. What makes his involvement in the label extra special is that Porchcrawler is the son of one of Jays long-time mentors, and sadly departed scene originator Andy Barker from "808 State". His remix is absolutely top tier, showing the next generation will push the boundaries more than ever.

James Chang also joins the record after previous outing on the label to give his take on “Already Broken”. He transforms the track with his distinctive touch, blending robust beats and warm layers to deliver a engaging reinterpretation that dances the line between deep and minimal. We chose these guys especially as their work not only enhances the original compositions but also builds on POTL's commitment to fostering creatives within the electronic music community.

A series of events, people and connections spread over the course of decades cumulate in this record. This string of moments and relationships is evident throughout the EP, where each track and remix serves as a showcase of artistic evolution that resonates on both a technical and emotional level.
