Friday night
but early evening

from the fight
that left no healing 

Hurtful words

accusations 
kept on swaying 
it’s a long way
from those days
where daylight ends
and night lights phase

This Friday night
you act so calm
across the bar

but you’re not fooling anyone 
your lips are sealed
or you’ll burn your tongue 

It seems your face
can’t play the act
a scolding look
that’s fit to crack
A jukebox smoky atmosphere 
A flickered exit sign appears

I followed you around this town
we’d listen to the city sounds
Where everything’s seems black and white
Except the pull of those neon lights

The Windows are down were in the truck
And who rides shotgun up in front
The radio keeps playing that song
Towards the daylight as we run 

1am roll out the door
On my knees just kissed the floor
If I had some strength in my bones
know that I’d fight in the undertow

A cold wind blasts across my knuckles 
numbness is a little subtle
There’s a place to serve me well
Where I escape my living hell 

But I followed you around this town
we’d listen to the city sounds
Where Angels dream in black and white
Except when pulled of the neon lights

The Windows are down were in the truck
And Who rides shotgun up in front
The Radio keeps playing our song
Towards the daylight as we run 

Our darkest demons chase us here

They leave me bruised and beaten 

But you appear to be calling me

Translucent is your beacon

You’ve followed me around this town
I see those lights and hear those sounds
If there’s a chance to ride shotgun
