I sold one beat on here to Mos Def which was used for his song... Ahhh, just do you homework.

Jay-Z recorded a song to one of the other beats on here as well but I never heard it (still to this day).

@Knxwledge is a collage creator. A sample master whose beats sound like someone artfully flicking through a mixture of Sky Movie channel soundbites, YouTube videos and jazz breakdowns. The New Jersey native now lives out in Hollywood right in the epicentre of the West coast beat scene that classes the likes Brainfeeder as contemporaries. Amoeba Records is down the road. Chuck Strangers from Pro Era is practically his neighbour. The Alchemist pops in and out of the area to nab vinyls. It's an environment that Knx has feasted upon to the point where he's 15TB deep in hip-hop tinged instrumentals and a 12" catalogue that reaches into the thousands. But before scooping a half hour of exclusives and archive beats in this week's mix, we found out what Knx likes to put on his feet, his OCD tendencies and underrated rap groups.

Living This Way

With the amount of work Amiri puts in, you would think music is his full time job. Since 2010, he has released two solo albums, two albums as Spectac & amiri, a couple albums worth of remixes, and a handful of beat tapes... all while producing for other artists. On his third solo LP, the South Carolina producer makes it clear that This Is Part Time. Though with an album this cohesive and tenacious, listeners would be none the wiser.

For the first single off the album, Amiri sticks to his jazz roots as he quotes legendary rapper O.C. in the song's chorus: "I'd rather be broke and gain a whole lot of respect." "Broke" is just one of the many great new tracks on This Is Part Time.
