This track is basically my study of this style and its basic elements. In my opinion Nirvana plays quite well with this dark 2000s feel. The song itself is one of the biggest hits of my youth.

This song represents my idea of minimalist concept. Synths and FXs are sequenced in Numerology4 and Logic. Melody is played with Nord's Rhodes and Malletech Omega vibraphone. Drums are from Nord Drum 2.

The Day One (ver. 2020)

Here's a cinematic tune composed for piano and cello. Upright piano sound comes from Kawai CS-7 and cello is Embertone's Blakus Cello plugin. Song is used on a video series about sailing in Finnish archipelago, this time in "Isokari" lighthouse island near Kustavi.

This is a third song of the Archipelago Suite. Made for a soundtrack for a short film about Utö, a famous Finnish lighthouse island.

This is a new version of this rather minimalistic tune: it's composed of just one simple arpeggiator pattern, guitar-like riff, bass line and drums. In 2018 I also added Electric piano to make it little more "human". On summer 2020 I recorded vibraphone to add more color to main melody.

Sounds are from my hardware synths: Arturia Origin, Access Virus Ti2 and Nord Drum 2. Sequencing was put together in Numerology 4 and recorded and mixed in Logic.

Spring Theme (ver. 2020)

This song is inspired by Archipelago of Turku and especially a lighthouse island called Isokari. It was originally composed to a sailing video representing this beautiful place. The new arrangement has all my favourite instruments involved: Malletech Omege Vibraphone, Nord Grand piano, Arturia Origin, Nord Drum 2 and Elektron Analog Rytm.

Pekka Laine (born April 13th 1974) is a versatile musician and music teacher living in Turku, Finland.
His main interests in music vary from playing and performing acoustic jazz to composing all kinds of music with computers and electronic instruments. Laine's resent interest has been combining piano and vibraphone to electric music environment. In his music he likes to mix elements from jazz, classical music and electronic music. For him there's no ultimate music style above all others; you can make good or bad music in any music style. Nevertheless music must carry strong feeling and if you can make it with just few notes, that's the magic.
