Mary Yuzovskaya's vinyl-only, Berlin-via-New York Monday Off label takes another dive into techno's hypnotic depths; specifically where the music's subtle dynamics unfurl in intensely cerebral and psychedelic ways. Expanding on his contributions to the most recent two MOFF compilations, Warsaw's Michał Wolski cements his standing in the core roster with this heady debut solo EP for Monday Off. 

Otherworldly sounds swirl around opener Melon Calai as if caught in its cyclonic embrace, giving way to the propulsive crescendo beneath Xeioa Claipha's glimmering electronics. On the flip side, Plaxhia Exhia conjures ghostly textures that ebb and flow over its tensile percussive clatter, and Luigi Tozzi reworks the A1 into a hallucinogenic beast whose searing atmospherics and driving rhythms unfurl and envelope.

For the 10th Monday Off release, label boss Mary Yuzovskaya curates four hypnotic cuts from a host of top tier techno talent.
Leading the A-side is ‘Schaefer Conclave’, a collaboration between Mary Yuzovskaya and NYC-based Twice As Proper events founder Craft. With pulsating low end, evolving pads, and delicate percussion, the duo have created an exceptional cut of deep techno. Following is Italian DJ/producer Ruhig’s ‘A Perfect Vacuum’, eschewing 4/4 patterns for rumbling syncopation and trippy synthesis throughout.
On the flip, Yuzovskaya goes solo with ‘Panic Season’, turning in a masterfully hypnotic track taking in dense percussions, eerie tones, and engulfing atmospherics. Rounding out the release, Monday Off regular and Polish DJ/producer Blazej Malinowski delivers ‘Mist’, a driving and propulsive track with shimmering production, sending listeners into a deeply satisfying musical wormhole.

To date, he has been released on labels like IO, Illegal Alien records, Lowless, Lett record and Oslated. The Croatia-born, Berlin-based artist has spent the last 13 years exploring his creative expression within the electronic music world. Producing since 2017, his material has journeyed from the deep techno sphere into, more recently, experimental territory. We especially love the originality within Saša’s most recent ‘Coruscate’ album on Pyramid Blood. Check it out!

Saša’s podcast for On the 5th Day is a 1-hour glimpse into his 3-hour set recorded in ://about blank for Eclectique x Art Bei Ton back in June, and we can imagine the vibes he created. 

Initially dark, emotive, and driving - swelling, dense atmospheres reminding us of storm filled clouds, soon parting to make way for rolling rain drops falling upon dense canopies of rainforest pulsating with life. A hypnotic, potent, and exhilarating segment of his set, where each track is delicately teased into the next, twisting, turning, and winding - casting a spell on the body and the mind.

An ecosystem is a geographical area in which a group of organisms coexists and form a bubble of life. There are many factors needed in order for life to be possible. We're extremely fortunate to live on a planet that has one. 

Yet, we don't seem to appreciate all this and we're destroying our ecosystem faster than ever before. Overconsumption, unsustainable practices, extreme pollution, burning of our forests to clean land for meat production... 

There are many ways in which we can start to appreciate our ecosystem more. Instead of focusing on the negative aspect of our reality, this track is a dedication to the global awakening of late. Many people are starting to realise their effects on our ecosystem, and are driving for a more sustainable future. 

My hope is that more people will form a mental model of appreciation for our ecosystem, and our one and only planet Earth.
