Originally from a metalcore and hardcore background he has always enjoyed electronic and experimental music. Heavily influenced by this and the techno scene in Leipzig, Germany with its well known Institut fuer Zukunft his focus are impulsive rhythms, dissociative sounds and dark and eerie atmospheres. 

As a founding member of PVC he is also co-organising raves in clubs and woods around the Leipzig area. For a few years now he has been exploring the world of producing. Releasing on Labels like Aarden Records, Crescent London, Further Sessions, Proselytizing or Charybdis he is establishing himself in the scene always seeking to refine his sound.

Open Soul Session #31 - Altinbas & lunar convoy | Live at La Nature Festival 2021

For the 25th installment of Eintopf podcast, I have invited another remarkable member of a vibrant Leipzing scene. @kontinum has put together a dark and atmospheric drum'n'bass set which I hope you'll enjoy!

Initially inspired by the subcultural scene of his hometown of Lübeck, the young artist was strongly influenced by the predominant sound of the Leipzig techno scene. Especially the infamous Institut fuer Zukunft and its hypnotic and dissociative sound significantly formed his distinctive style and quickly paved his way into the local scene. Over the years his sonic palette grew and now reaches from soothing ambient and downtempo to dark and dissociative contemporary techno.

In 2017 Kontinum co-founded the collective Nebula and, after organising their first raves, the collective quickly found its way into Leipzig's club scene and managed to establish its own event series at Institut fuer Zukunft.

In addition to managing most of Nebula's musical affairs, Kontinum
continues to steadily enhance his own remarkable sound which can already be listened to on his releases on labels such as The Gods Planet, Lowless and Agos.

A Musical Trinity.

A Musical Trinity is not just about mixing three decks but a spiritual and philosophical concept of merging three elements to create something greater than its parts. It embodies the creative force that drives artists to push the boundaries of their craft and create something new and unique.
In musical terms, the Trinity can be seen as the three fundamental elements of rhythm, melody, and harmony. Each part has its own character but, combined, creates a synergy that transcends individual sound waves and touches the listener's soul.
The Musical Trinity represents the connection between the artist, the music, and the listener. The artist is the creator, the music is the medium, and the listener is the receiver. The Trinity creates a channel that allows the artist's energy to flow through the piece and reach the listener's soul.
The concept of the Musical Trinity is not limited to a particular genre of music or culture. It is a universal idea that speaks to the power of music to transcend language and cultural barriers. It is a reminder that, despite our differences, we are all connected by the universal language of music.

John Plaza is a Chilean artist based in Barcelona, owner of Linderluft Records.
His sound is characterized by minimalist percussions, continuous atmospheres, breakbeat rhythms and a search for mental travel and movement.
Since he started with productions, he has released music on labels such as KVLTÖ Records, Annulled Music, Fur:ther Sessions, BAHN· Records, Ancestral Process, Postdynamic, NFEREE, Space Textures, Circular Limited, to name some.
We can also highlight his active collaboration in more than 30 podcasts worldwide, showing his vision of deep and hypnotic techno. 
MONUMENT Podcast and The Memoir by Hypnus Records are his most important contributions.
He has had support in his productions from artists such as

Bio:

Hysteria and Steve Duncan are members of Patterns of Perception - a Berlin-based collective that explore the hypnotic depths of techno & electronica. Through regular club nights and a podcast series, they provide a platform for artists to share their unique vision.

This contribution to the Deep Electronics podcast draws inspiration from a storm the Australian duo encountered whilst travelling through the Austrian alps some months ago.

Experiencing moments of meteorological beauty, calm, energy and bleakness amidst the rain and snow, the pair felt compelled to record their visions and emotions, resulting in this mix which was pieced together in months that followed.

Deep Electronics Podcast # 177 - Hysteria & Steve Duncan (Patterns of Perception)

He’s just as focussed on musical dynamics; with expansive chords but intimate effects, and how sounds move about in the club as well as in your head. He makes soundscapes rather than tracks, where euphoric moods and thunderous basslines can coexist, and where minute little details capture your mind’s eye while punchy drum work makes an immediate physical impact. He explores the rough and the smooth, the loud and the quiet, the cerebral and the visceral in aquatic and naturalistic worlds where electro, techno, dub and ambient are blurred into one. 

This means that as both a producer and comprehensive live act, the Dutchman can take you from the furthest reaches of outer space to the depths of an oceanic abyss via crackling and frozen tundras. He does so under three aliases—VC-118A, Mohlao, Multicast Dynamics, but all are interconnected and related, with a modular approach to making and performing music meaning that a pumping breakbeat live-set can easily be transformed into an abstract sonic landscape by reducing and modifying elements, playing with textures and reworking structures. 

“I’m always searching for a duality, something that marries dance floor functionality with an end of the world melodrama that gets deep inside your head,” says the artist. “My process is intuitive and unplanned, so I can start with sound design and atmospherics first, or get lost in rhythms.” This understanding of narrative, as well as groove, means that whatever alias he assumes, he can pump out a peak time festival set, twist you inside out with an intimate session in a cosy club or play an experimental soundscape set in more thought provoking settings with his own avant garde visuals. Dancers at cult places like Tresor, Denovali Festival and a Boiler Room showcase in Nijmegen have all experienced this in the recent past. 

Known by electronic music obsessives as one of electro’s shining lights, the last decade has seen van Dijk excel in both EP and LP format. His achingly beautiful melancholic moods and roomy, absorbing grooves are so fully realised that they work well beyond the club context and have come on top labels like Delsin, Frustrated Funk and Silent Season amongst others. They include highlights like the tension between raw machine sounds and ethereal pads that were explored on VC-118A’s underground classic Vaxna; Shift Register, which was made from largely one-take hardware jams with an instinctive and lo-fi finish, and the slow burning techno of Mohlao’s Landforms LP. Of course, his Multicast Dynamics album quadrilogy on Denovali also laid out immersive ambient worlds in truly escapist ways. 

The future will bring more multi-layered interplay between these varied but related projects on both solo and collaborative releases. This exploration of opposing forces will continue in the live arena, too, where van Dijk can arrest your attention with thrilling sets of guttural and gritty techno, take you into the future with his electro or zone you out with cathartic ambient. Whatever he does, dance floor experiences are rarely as immersive and emotional as those crafted by this multifaceted artist.

Fighting its way through small rocks and giant boulders a stream of glacial water races down the mountain's side. Peaks of snow and barks of pine are long gone, a fading memory, not more. The farther the current flows, the more it grows, eventually knocking its crosser off balance. In a split second all goes dark and diminishing perception of time prompts a thought – should I resist? A taste of salt at the back of a tongue pulls back to light – river’s delta meets the sea and its black waves.
