Hace mucho tiempo que quise sacar ese mixtape y ahora que salió el sol...es la hora!!

La inspiración de ese mix viene de un concepto sencillo: reimaginar unos temas que me encanta en un estilo cumbiero, más lento, más sabrosos ;) Mientras que estaba terminando mi EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) volví a enamorarme de la cumbia y su ritmo delicioso y pues asi nació el mixtape que mezcla todo desde Burial hasta Manu Chao y mucho más...

Espero que disfruten esta selección de música que ya conocen pero tal vez en un nuevo contexto o unos nuevos descubrimientos. Voy a agregar un playlist pronto pero por el momento escucha, disfruta y viaja!!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

I have been sitting on this mixtape for a little while now but decided, the sun is shining, it's time for some new music.

This mix is inspired by a simple concept: some tunes I love reimagined in a new context cumbiero. As I was finishing my last EP Cumbias Imaquinarias (https://elbuho.bandcamp.com/album/cumbias-imaquinarias-ep) I  went back to some Cumbia roots and decided to make this slightly mad mixtape of all sorts of music with Cumbia as the thread running through the mix. Everything from Manu Chao to Burial ;)

Hopefully you discover music you know and love in a new light and maybe even some new music ;) I will add a tracklist soon but for now, jump in, immerse yourself and enjoy the Cumbia sunshine!! 🌞 ☀️ 🌞

Mixtape: Cumbias Imaquinarias

This one has been in the works for a while but didn't actually make it out in 2021 but hey, what does the month or even the year matter anymore? This is a series for what was and well, 2021 -2022 has been pretty wild for the world (aren't they all lately?), oscillating between hope and heartbreak. This mix somehow tries to capture that. 

I would like to say a big thank you to all the people that shared music they found beautiful, quite a few tracks made it into this mix, as always in new contexts, different speeds, pitches and carefully folded with another track. Thank you for listening

In case you wondered, the art is a beautiful woodcut by Ukrainian-American artist Jacques Hnizdovsky (https://hnizdovsky.gallery). Hnizdovsky fled Ukraine in 1929 as a fourteen-year-old and spent most of his life in the US, becoming known for his woodcuts which often depicted flora and fauna, inspired by hours spent watching the animals at the Bronx zoo and Botanical Garden.

2021 Mix (Cosmo-vision)

We are at the end of 2022 and as tradition goes I am sharing my Cosmo-vision 2022 mix. This mix was a delight to make, digging back into my "MP3" crate of digital tracks I own from back in the day, rediscovering old gems in a new context, playing with their speed, style and adding my own touch to each of them. De los Andes a los Himalayas es una forma de resumir lo que pasa en El Camino de Leda, un tributo a Leda Valladares, un compendio de varios temas que van desde el canto con caja a la electronica mapuche y la incursión de sonidos orientales. Chancha via Circuito se amalgama con Shaman Herrera, Savia Andina se pone techno y hasta Britney Spears se pone en clave orgánica. Una forma de llevar los cantos ancestrales a la cultura pop y a la electronica rebajada.

From the Andes to the Himalayas is a way to resume the experience of El Camino de Leda, un tributo a Leda Valladares, with a unique combination of songs including canto con caja, mapuche electronic music, eastern sounds, and more.  Shaman’s voice blend into Chancha Via Circuito’s deep bases, Savia Andina goes techno, and even Britney Spears comes in in an organic format. This mixtape is an attempt to bring ancestral chants to our universe of pop culture and slow electronics.

We are almost at the end of the summer and after some amazing shows over the past few months I wanted to share a live set from one of my shows. This set was recorded in Sierre on the edge of the Lac de Géronde as part of the Week-end au bord de l'eau.

It has a mix of unreleased tracks, released tracks, edits but 100% owl-ish material.

Thanks to everyone that came to the past shows and showed support.
