DIVE INTO RUIN is an Australian alternative rock 4-piece with a tendency to genre hop.

Having recently obtained my Advanced Diploma of Music Business, my dream is still to be an A & R Rep and/or a venue owner and booker. Avid lover of all music (well versed in Rock and Metal but adore it all); it enriches my life in many ways and is often my greatest joy and comfort. Nothing else makes pure passion and life pump through my veins than an awesome tune; I live for live music and am often at gigs many times a week, depressed if I do not get my fix. Melbourne, the haven of much talent - proud to be a part of the Melbourne Live Music Census 2012 which proves Melbourne IS the LIVE MUSIC CAPITAL OF THE WORLD.

'Melbourne boasts at least 460 live music venues and live music contributes more than a $1billion to the Victorian economy per annum, according to the largest Live Music Census ever conducted in Victoria.

The Victorian Live Music Census 2012, which was carried out by Music Victoria in partnership with the City of Melbourne, NMIT and over 100 student volunteers, also found that on a typical Saturday night 97,000 patrons attend Melbourne’s live music venues and 900 musicians, 740 DJs, 237 production staff and 2,730 venue staff are employed.

The report also revealed that Melbourne hosts 62,000 popular music gigs annually – many featuring multiple-artists bills, attracting 14.4 million annual patron visits to small venues, major concerts and Melbourne-based music festivals.'

EL COLOSSO is the Melbourne live scene's premier heavy rock 4-piece in the style ball-park of Soundgarden, Guns'n'Roses, Clutch and Led Zeppelin.

EL COLOSSO is the coming together of four heavyweights of the Melbourne rock scene. Featuring the talents and eclectic influences of Benny James Pertzel (Dirty York / King Wolf), Craig Fryers (Mushroom Giant / Dive Into Ruin), Peter ‘Red Dog’ Hayden (The Hybernators / Free To Run) and Matt ‘Koops’ Cooper (Bring On The Junta). El Colosso has all the attributes of a true heavy rock band: an arse-kicking frontman with a voice as big as his persona, a wildman lead guitarist, a super-tight rhythm section, impressive harmonies and a song list consisting of all killer, no filler. The El Colosso live show is relentless energy from go-to-whoa!

The much-anticipated new album “Pathways” is simply stunning. It grabs you as soon as it starts – first track aptly named “Doom Boogie”. The white noise resolves into a sludge riff cavalcade as if summoning the dark lord up from his lair, and then kicks into foot-tapping, head-banging overdrive – and it doesn’t let up from there. The second track is also the band’s first single from the album, “Leatherhead” – a 4-minute fire-cracker that pushes you right back into your seat as if the nitro’s been suddenly triggered. It’s an album brimming with hooks and character. The final track on the album, “Moving Mountains”, is a song of epic proportion. Closing out at just under 10 minutes it fittingly book-ends the album, featuring Dave Ferguson (Fuck The Fitzroy Doom Scene) sharing the lead guitar parts.

The album was recorded at Headgap Studios by Finn Keane, with vocals, additional tracking and mixing by Jez Giddings and Craig Harnath at Hothouse Studios. Mastering by Jack The Bear.

“Pathways” is El Colosso’s first release since the “Cannonball” EP in 2016, described by Dave ‘Higgo’ Higgins (Triple M, Distortion) as: “… a MASSIVE wall of fuzz riffs basslines and drums that will kick your balls up through your stomach and out the back of your head. POWERFUL!”
