On 30th October, French duo Housse de Racket unleash their third album, The Tourist, through !K7 Records. The LP consolidates the band’s dense sound and vast influences into something unique.

Coming back from their world tour that took them from Tokyo to Coachella, work began on The Tourist in 2013. It was entirely recorded in guitarist/vocalist Pierre Leroux’s new apartment, romantically located by the Paris landmark: Montmartre. As the band themselves put it, “How could we resist the Sacré-Coeur’s magnetic and hypnotic force?”.

The band’s previous album, Alesia (Kitsuné) was produced by Philippe Zdar, who had previously worked with the likes of The Rapture, Phoenix and The Beastie Boys and was critically acclaimed from all around the globe.

Housse de Racket describes their new effort as “a state of mind, a motionless journey,” and cites a wide range of inspirations for its songs: “We listened to Fleetwood Mac, Spacemen 3, XTC, Steel Pulse, Alan Vega, Ravel, Laurie Anderson, Miles Davis, Television…Everything we could get our hands on!”

The LP never sounds like an iPod playlist; Housse de Racket combines the sounds and locations that have affected them into a forty-minute masterclass in Gallic pop.

The Tourist is the sound of a group returning home, having seen the world, and trying to make sense of it all.

Ron Poznansky and Daniel Terndrup met in a high school classroom specially designed for kids who have trouble paying attention to boring stuff. They immediately joined forces in the pursuit of adventure, hiking through the Santa Monica Mountains to collect top secret data on benevolent wildlife, mycological oddities and abandoned earth stations. They soon parlayed their overactive minds into making music, drawing inspiration from post punk, house, funk and the vast cosmos. Their remix roll-call includes Holy Ghost!, The Rapture, Poolside, JOTS, Princeton, Superhumanoids, Harvard Bass, and many more. They currently have a single out on "Throne of Blood" which received praise from Resident Advisor and XLR8R, and radio play on KCRW, WXPN, and BBC Radio 1. Ron and Dan are always working on tons of cool stuff, so expect new remixes, and a full EP in the near future.

Since the first edition was held in 1999 (in an airplane hangar), Iceland Airwaves has become one of the premier annual showcases for new music – Icelandic and otherwise – in the world. It's made a heap of friends and won many fans along the way, and been lavished with praise pretty much everywhere they write about music. Example: Rolling Stone magazine called it "The hippest long weekend on the annual music-festival calendar."

Some of the world's most exciting artists have performed there, too. The Shins, The Rapture, TV On The Radio, Florence and the Machine, Klaxons, Hot Chip, Flaming Lips, Wolf Parade, Bloc Party and Fatboy Slim have made the short hop from Europe or North America to share the stages with Iceland's finest talents, including bands such as Sigur Rós, FM Belfast, GusGus, múm, Singapore Sling and Dr Spock, to name but a few. And when the live bands have done their thing, top DJs from all over the world spin across the city until the crack of dawn.

But there's more to Airwaves than music. Reykjavík is quite possibly the perfect festival city – small enough to be welcoming, sophisticated enough to offer cultural, historical and nightlife diversions to rival cities ten times its size. Maybe twenty. Who knows? And it's surrounded by some of the most unique and astonishing natural beauty you're ever likely to see (this is a grand statement, but you should just see it).

Roll out of bed, hose the party remains out of your hair and hop on a bus. Before you can remember what you did the night before, you're looking at geysers, waterfalls, lava fields – all the best that a volcanic island has to offer, including the world-famous Blue Lagoon, favorite soaking spot of the international hung-over glitterati. Mmm! You can really taste the hipster!
