Exploring deeper strains of club music from his home base in Helsinki, Kaspiann presents the
latest transmission on VALA alongside frequent collaborator VC-118A. Samuel van Dijk previously
adopted his deep techno guise Multicast Dynamics for a joint track with Kaspiann on VALA 1, and
now he switches stance to his celebrated VC-118A alias to bring an elegant kind of electro to this
EP. It’s a style which also informs Kaspiann’s solo work on ‘Moraalivesi’, which upholds the
producer’s patient, meditative sound palette while toying with crooked electro rhythms. It’s
‘Metsätutka’ where he locks into a driving 4/4 propulsion adorned with subtle electro-acoustic
percussion and a keen sense of space.

On the collaborative tracks with van Dijk there’s a greater sense of head-tweaking electro setting
the tone, embracing a tightly wound framework as a vessel for richly rendered soundscapes just
past the foreground machine funk activity. If ‘510’ is a subtly deep, industrially-tinged workout, ‘Sea
Of Cities’ shifts the focus slightly to toy with melodic elements more wholeheartedly, creating an
emotional kind of sonic futurism in the grand tradition of electro soul.

We’re really excited to share a premiere with you from a close friend of Delayed, someone we know and love - Hassan Siddiqui, or Âsan as he is known musically. Some of you may remember that he recorded the most beautiful & immersive 4 hour journey for us just over a year ago. He has accompanied us at our Delayed getaways in the Catskills & I actually first connected with him there in that same place in the forest, almost 2 years ago. Before he & I met, he had released his debut EP ‘GULP/GAME’ as the first on his own Cellar Door, an imprint which has since blossomed into a catalog of 12 releases from talented artists as well as a mix series & premiere platform. Since then, it has been a joy to watch Âsan develop & grow as an artist.  

From afar, Âsan may appear to be in hibernation but he has in fact been meticulously crafting his sound in the shadows with an incredible attention to detail. More than 2 years after his first solo release, he returns to the public eye with a new collection of music, a 4-track EP called ‘Beychen’. In Âsan’s native tongue of Urdu, this word means ‘restlesss’ or ‘uneasy’, words that are poignantly analogous to the mood & tone of the tracks on the release. ’Bass Bin’ is a track that materialized out of Âsan’s time experimenting with the Buchla Easel. “Except for the kick and clap. Everything in the track is from that one synth. I always try to work with as few instruments and sounds as possible,” he said when I asked about the production process behind the track. “If I can find myself lost & immersed in the end result, I think the listener can too.” He expresses a contemplative, minimalistic approach to techno that is inherent to his production process - filling the space with very few elements & focusing on reusing existing sounds rather than adding more to the canvas. His low end sound choices & mixing approach give his music a very distinct sound & feel. There is this deep thump but at the same time it has a feathery bounce. ”The idea behind the track was to work with bass-heavy elements. I absolutely love working with bass-forward music but a lot of the time, bass-heavy elements don’t translate on huge sound systems where subs are already extenuated. I wanted the grooves to be wall-shaking & the kick to be a punch in the gut.” The result of this process & thinking can be heard below. We’re looking forward to watching our friend Âsan continue his artistic journey.

‘Beychen’, the 4-track, 140 gram vinyl, will be available April 1st on Âsan’s own Bandcamp & stocked at record shops worldwide.

'Trudd' is a supple, shapeshifting deep techno opener with sub-aquatic pads and churning rhythms. 'Diddy's Rug' brings a lighter melodic touch with trippy patterns and hallucinogenic qualities for the afters then 'Fire Warden' is a double-time stepper with dub weight and urgent energy to make for another sophisticated offering from Danza Nativa.

From the ashes of past incarnations, a new era sparks to life - wired, alive, and pulsing with transmissions. Kris Baha returns with Livewire, a 3-track EP that marks the beginning of his next evolution: a collision of late 90s tribal-psy trance, techno breaks, big beat and progressive grooves, romancing the chaos and dust of a Spiral Tribe doof.

The title track Livewire is the sound of shedding skin. Starting off like some lost crystal method cut, Kris sings ‘Flowers of Steel & Crystal’ - the first metaphor of this alternate reality which quickly mutates to a shape-shifting journey that moves like a multi-dimensional rave dream. Echoes of the inner self reminding you to keep listening to the voice within, re-amplified by the main dusty lead before the final liquid psy bassline slips in and warps us through to the other side. Somewhere in the static, a voice remains: “There’s a livewire through you.”

Kiss of Life pays homage to the proto-progressive trance and house of the 90s—looped, distorted vocal hooks and pulsing acid lines weave in and out like memories from another dancefloor.

Then comes The Phase - which kicks up the dirt of the doof and goes down the spiral further. Infectiously groove based with a classic lead surprise half way through, something we have heard before but not quite like this.

‘Livewire” channels the wired chaos of the 90’s era artists such as The Chemical Brothers, Fluke, Prodigy, Underworld, Lunatic Calm, Crystal Method, and the Hackers OST reimagined for now.

This isn’t a throwback - it’s a return, to feeling everything at once and we’re excited to roll out the sonic rebirth of Kris Baha.
