The musician behind Dark Screens, is from Manchester and is currently based in the Lake District. Working under a name derived from the visual style he created during his years at Art School, he is now driven towards a sound that combines his major influences and life experiences into melodic Post-punk songs designed to fit on to one side of a 45.

Canción Orgánica es su primer EP, contiene cuatro temas grabados en Dos Hermanas, en el Analog Pancake Studio, de Fernando Zambruno, quien además añadió detalles especiales con la guitarra eléctrica en cada uno de los temas; el máster se realizó en Noruega, a cargo de Sigbjørn Grimsæth, dejando en la mesa un trabajo moderno, con un tono de oscuridad en la que se atisban ligeras luces de feria.

New Breed first saw the light of day in early 1998, when Kristian Gundersen(vocals and guitar) and Hans Henrik Varland(synth and programming) joined forces to establish what was to become one of the greats among the goth’n’roll acts. Two EP’s were released this year, the second one entitled “Shadows” was produced by Tommy Olsson(Elusive, Theatre Of Tragedy…). A year of gigs, mayhem and minor scandals followed, and in 2000 they picked up a spot at “Sex.Goth.Electronics”, a collection of fine Norwegian underground music. This year also saw the arrival of Bjarte Langeland into the band, who started off as a bass player, but later picked up the guitar. A couple of years of song writing, rehearsals, the occasional gig, fights and the leaving of Hans Henrik followed, and in 2003 “Pleasure and pain” was released, an album which features the backing vocals of Harald Hovtun(Trains, Reflection). While hugely acclaimed by the critics, the album didn’t do as well as one should hope for, so after a few more years of touring, busts and controversy, the band decides to slow down a bit, and spend some time and energy elsewhere. Kristian joined Elusive, and Bjarte spent some time with garage rockers Midtskillewillie before joining The River Knows. Still, there was always a connection, songs were made and rehearsals took place, so when Gothic Music Records entered the field and wanted to re-release “Pleasure and pain”, the spark was lit. The old New Breed inspiration is back, new line up-plans are being made and the band is ready to take on the world harder than ever in the future.

Midland Railway is a heavy indie punk pop campcore post-emo pre-post-nu-geekstep band formed in Manchester in 2004. it was declared legally dead in 2008, showed a few signs of rigor mortis in 2010 and became undead again in 2013. the story could read like a script from an American made-for-tv feelgood movie as seen on any afternoon on Channel 5, but with arguably even better music.

The band’s prime founding ‘member’ and self elected leader is Nick Lote, of Harborne, Birmingham. As well as singing and playing rhythm guitar, Nick writes most of the lyrics, largely based on his own life experiences, with no names changed to protect the innocent or guilty. He also is a highly skilled player of Subbuteo, Magic The Gathering, Pokemon and tennis. Hobbies include eating, sleeping, cheering on the Villa, womanising and talking to cats.

The term ‘lead guitarist’ can be considered a misnomer in a group where there are only two guitarists (or three if one counts the bass guitar as a type of guitar), but in this particular band, the job is performed with aplomb by a Robert Hayton, of Cheadle, Stockport, in the posh bit of the north of England. Our Rob also sings harmony vocals, and makes peculiar noises with his pedals. Very occasionally, his onstage outfits are determined by bets that he makes. Robert also likes computers, gas and RPGs.

Drummer of this fine combo is David Novan, of Chigwell, Essex. Despite being usually hidden at the back of the stage between a whacking great drum kit, David (over)compensates for this by wearing outfits best described as ‘silly’, alongside plentifully luxurious curls and enough make-up to sink a battleship, a tactic yet to be used in modern warfare. When not hitting stuff and shouting ‘backing’ ‘vocals’, David enjoys watching cricket, staying in bed, admiring bits of grass that grow between cracks in the pavement, and playing musical instruments.

Bassist Sarah Megarry was hampered with a severe disability, being most unfortunate in looking very similar to Hollywood stunner Sarah Michelle Gellar, of Buffy The Vampire Slayer fame. In an attempt to ward off the obsessive nerdy male fan-boys that lust over women who look like sci-fi hotties, she joined a band with three of them. Sarah plays bass guitar accompanied by a pedal called Woolly Mammoth. Due to her heavy and often incomprehensible Northern Irish accent, Sarah is not allowed a microphone onstage. She spends her spare time on the internet pretending to be her dog.

With songs on a variety of topics ranging from punk etiquette, online football management, ex girlfriends, ex fiancées, and songwriting itself, Midland Railway is a must-book for all your family functions, including weddings, bar mitzvahs, kids' birthday parties, divorces, circumcisions, funerals, séances, party political conferences and opening events for new stations on the expansion of the Metrolink.


Self indulgent, occasionally passable cover versions of mainly miserable music

Elastikbande are a brand new Manchester based three piece (post punk / grunge / garage rock) outfit featuring ex members of The Fall / Polythene, (Una Baines’) Poppycock and Rose & The Diamond Hand. 

Featuring Kate on drums, Luisa on guitar / backing vocals and Mark on bass / vocals. The band’s sound is dynamic, melodic, catchy and often witty. Previously band member’s other work has featured on The John Peel Show, BBC Radio 1, 6 Music and BBC 3’s Late Junction, plus covered in blogs such as The Quietus and Louder Than War. 

This debut EP was recorded entirely live in the studio in Salford in August 2019 to capture the energy of the group's stage show. Musically Elastikbande have been compared to a blend of The Fall, Pavement, The Pixies and more. These early songs are about everything from household appliances to stage diving etiquette. 

The band are performing at The Castle on Monday 30th September ,Gullivers on Friday 25th October and FUEL on 6th December in Manchester to support the launch of the EP. The EP was recorded by Paul Morrice and mixed by Paul Millsopp.
