Mombaak is yet another promising artist that we are honored to introduce and release. His name is a variation of a word from the Tupi-Guarani language that means “to wake up”, representing the power that music has in making us see beyond what the eyes can see.

This is his first official release, therefore, it marks a magical period of transition for the artist, a kind of rebirth of a bright future that draws ahead. His EP, Asbestos, makes reference to an ore found in nature characterized by being flexible, practically indestructible and highly resistant to heat — characteristics that serve perfectly for this EP.

Even without having released anything before, he had already gained support from BLANCAh, Bigfett and the Italian Agents Of Time, who played his tracks at Printworks (London), Circoloco (Ibiza) and Surreal Park, when they came to Brazil — new support will definitely be received in this excellent work .

“Asbesto” opens with modulated synths that are accompanied by keyboard and piano lines. The arpeggiated break is an invitation to close your eyes and let yourself be carried away by the magnitude of the sound. The track received a remix by Ed Lopes, another Brazilian DJ and producer who has also enchanted big stars such as Camelphat, Massano, Innellea and Tale of Us. Ed Lopes chooses to add new piano notes, maintaining the emotional and deep essence of the original track.

Finally, Amianthus maintains the same central element, but creates a sound contrast flirting with Techno through a dry and heavy kick that appears right at the beginning. This track is more like a cavalry passing through the streets, but it's just the bass getting into your mind and making your body shake inside. This is Mombaak!

Astral Records rounds out the month of September by welcoming Eli and Dani and ZAC to the label for their first ever collaboration. Hailing from Israel, Eli and Dani have enjoyed a quick rise since first emerging from Tel Aviv's electronic underground a few short years ago. The duo's spirited take on progressive and melodic house has seen them showcase their music via Nora en Pure's Purified and Massano's Simulate Recordings. Meanwhile, Brazilian artist ZAC has enjoyed measurable success over the course of his sixteen-year career. The Santa Catarina resident's well-kept discography is highlighted by releases for Einmusika, Eklektisch, Freegrant Music and Warung Recordings. Now collaborating for the first time, Eli and Dani and ZAC join forces for their much-anticipated double A-side vehicle 'The Reflection Of Voices'. The release commences with the title track 'The Reflection Of Voices', which finds the trio layering dark stabs and deconstructed vocals over machine-gun grooves and punchy kick drums. A smooth yet exhilarating energy rises with cleverly co-axed arps carrying an astral-tinged mood into the break. Coming to full fruition across the interlude, it's a soulful vocal which plays off an impressive sequence of cosmic synth swagger, ultimately peaking as pitch-bending motifs reveal a thunderous drop and peak time style finale. The second and final selection finds Eli and Dani crafting a similarly club-effective cut 'Hypnosis'. Aptly titled, its meditative pulse and looping vocals build copious amounts of energy, as astral sonics steal the air, while grooves pulse and percussion flows into the break. Trance-inspired themes highlight the centrepeice, bringing with them a unique balance of the past and present, pushing onwards to a finale of cutting edge designs that would be equally at home above a festival skyline, or sitting in the sweet spot of a main room set.
