This journey gets straight to the point with the title alone. Just as approaching prey covered by the darkness of night, the snarling synth slowly lurks closer while the loop of hypnotic tones and pulsing drums keep the mark focused and unwitting of its true motive. When it finally shows its teeth, freedom is long gone. Panther has sunk in and forgets any intention of surrender. Wave the white flag. It's an exquisite feeling to be eaten alive.

An influential player in House circles since the late 90's, Tripmastaz' music can be found on top labels including Be As One, Moon Harbour, Cecille, Magnetic and his own Plant 74 imprint - all solid proponents of the House Gangster culture.

As the title suggests, TomzWork sees Tripmastaz getting to work on the tom-tom drums, providing a jacking, tribal groove underpinning an incessant, looping, deconstructed vocal sample.  Carlo Lio brings a heavier feel with stomping beats and a dirty groove, while Bebadim adds some swing and a bumping bass line to his relentlessly driving remix.

Tripmastaz explains the story behind TomzWork, “The Original version was produced around 2006 during the really short live late-night session when I was f**ing around with my vocal sample.  Somehow the finished version dropped to the bottom of my unlimited beat stash! :)  2012 was the year when I showed it to Sneak. Another year and a half passed by and next thing I know Sneak is loving it and  The Martinez Brothers are playing it on Boileroom TV.  Shouts to Carlo Lio for a tasty fat remix and I had to get my boy Bebadim on board with his version too!”

So he's back on Yin Yang. Axel Karakasis with his track Hang Up. The Original track is a rolling baseline hands in the air peak time techno track that is the trademark of this Greek techno legend. A fine tune. First remix is by Bosnia and Herzegovina's Alen Milivojevic. This is an amazing remix in a newer much slower groovier style for Alen. It's funking but keeps peak time. This is an absolute belter loud and I can see this be played over and over for along time, especially me. Next up is Sweden's Andy Notalez for a slightly darker style mix. This guy defines what a darker mix is. Great atmospherics. Great remix. Then we get Spain s maginfico duo Dualitik. Now this is a funky remix with lots of groove built into the baseline. A Fantastic Remix. Italy is next with Irregular Synth. Taking it his way thats tougher techno, yet still dark. Then we have another Spanish guy MAAE. Delivering a new style techno that defines him. Really good.

We don’t often invite people to run the FACT Mix gauntlet more than once – but if anyone gets to bend the rules, it’s Klock.

The Berlin titan last graced these parts back in 2009, filing a muscular FACT Mix entirely in keeping with his reputation as Berghain’s bosher-in-chief. The last five years have seen him consolidate his reputation as a standard bearer of refined, take-no-prisoners techno; his eight-hour-plus sets continue to shake Berghain’s foundations, and, although his output has slowed substantially, he’s still found time to knock out the occasional release on Ostgut Ton. His Klockworks label continues to tick along, too - new releases from fellow FACT mixer Trevino and Etapp Kyle are imminent, plus, if a forthcoming stint of “studio time” comes good, potentially more new music from Klock himself.

Those expecting pulverising 4×4 might be surprised by Klock’s sophomore FACT mix – a “deeper, dreamy” collection, bookended by two vintage ambient tracks and shot through with wonder. Unreleased Klockworks material features, as do cuts from the likes of Function, Ben Sims, Surgeon, Orgue Electronique and Lucy. The mix is a studio-recorded affair – something Klock sees as a very different kettle of fish to playing out: “Club mixes are obviously more spontaneous and capture the vibe of a specific night, while working in the studio offers other possibilities like re-editing tracks and layering tunes more precisely, which I’ve done a lot of that here.” Set your watches…

Luigi Madonna returns to Drumcode a year after his superb single ‘Primo’ using familiar hooks, huge stabs and monstrous drums that storm across the dance floor which, are common with Mr Madonna. The hard hitting raw vibe of this EP gives Luigi an edge, with fluttering high’s and saturated lows, Luigi’s tracks are a mainstay in all DJ sets. The EP encompasses different emotions throughout that can be felt within the track ‘Singer One’, offering a more mellow side to Luigi’s already expansive catalogue.

Gearing up for the release of Works, Brendon Moeller’s long player homage to “the spirit of techno”, Electric Deluxe taps two of the album’s polar moments for remixes to deliver Work Ethics.

Selecting one of Works’ toughest tracks for the A-side, “Adjust to the Fading Light”, the EP opens with a rare vocal refix from Berghain resident Ben Klock. Whilst difficult to pin Klock’s productions to any particular style, as a remixer he’s proven even more versatility and vision, reworking artists as diverse as Martyn, Kenny Larkin and Depeche Mode to Emptyset and Steve Bug. Meanwhile Moeller mutes the hats and brings the track’s whirring dystopian bed to the fore with his Echologist version, jettisoning its original surge for more swollen and experimental terrains.

On the flip, Works’ luscious dubbed out number “Writing Wrongs” is pulled further apart and dragged to dark subaqueous depths by Echospace duo Rod Modell and Stephen Hitchell as cv313. Melbourne-based producer Craig McWhinney on the other hand takes “Writing Wrongs” in the other direction entirely, soaring past Moeller’s original to conclude Work Ethics on a hazy sun kissed dub trip that’s altogether soothing, light and mesmerising.

Jamie Jones launches his new subsidiary label of Hot Creations, HOTTRAX with a three track EP of upfront dance floor business. The label will be dedicated to a more underground dance floor orientated aesthetic, only for the headstrong!

This three track features phenomenal 'Changes'. Jamie has championed it all summer and as soon as you hear it you'll realize why. It's a heady hypnotic brew of oscillator-funk and ghetto-groove, arpeggiating synths bubble hypnotically under the rising ebb and flow of the melody as infectious groove drives you on.. the truth is we are all going through changes!

On the flip and Jamie jacks the groove on the 'Road To The Studio'. Incessant chanting and looped vocals are cleverly layered upon each other creating a impending sense of explosive anticipation as the rhythm effortlessly builds to maximum effect. Finally, the irresistibly charming 'No Rush' plays upon retro garage feel while the minor keys serve to create a sense eeriness on the floor. A great closure to a superb three track EP, and what a way to kick off the new label in style. Watch out for HOTTRAX releases in 2013.

"When you're commissioned to make a mix for DJ Shadow, you know you have to pull something special out of the bag. Making sure it was a musical experience was as much a key part of this as making it a hype mix to listen to, considering you are working with material by a guy whose process involves finding sounds which work together as though they were made for one another. When i was approached to do this, I was asked to make the mix using material either sampled by, or remixed for or by Shadow. So Instead of making it a straight up one track into another kind of mix, I tried to approach it like a live performance, deconstructing tracks into their component parts then re-assembling and combining them with my own take on it. I certainly hope people have as much of a blast listening to it as i did making it."
