The taste of music

Music has the power to heal and ease our minds during times of trouble and it is in that spirit that we welcome Colossio to the Play Pal Series, an artist we've been following for quite some time and whose sound fits perfect with what we like and release.

He's played at the main clubs in Mexico, regular guest at Topaz Club in Monterrey and have done recently his first tour through Europe. Although he's into a wide range of music, his sound, even at lower bpm than on his usual sets, is definitively club oriented with a driving energy that keeps pushing.

With music out on labels such as Ombra International, Calypso, La Dame Noir, Relish or Duro among many others, and new Ep's coming up on Beat Is Murder and Á Table, he's become one of the most prolific artists of last years and definitively one to watch.

Daniel has ben a dj since 2010. Based in Paris at the time, he held residencies in Le Baron (Paris and NYC), Rex Club (Paris), Badaboum(Paris), Shelter (Shanghai). He is running the label Motordiscs, releasing music he loves from artists such as Curses, Kasper Bjørke, Khidja, Zombies in Miami, Massimiliano Pagliara, Sascha Funke, The Juan Maclean, Fairmont and many more. Beside playing, remixing and releasing music Daniel has also been involved in the club and festival scene as he founded the parisian club Garage, dedicated to dark disco and indie dance music. He also has been the musical director of David Lynch’s Silencio and of Nüba. He used to play under the pseudonyms of Johnny Saucepiquante and Dr. Wonderful before deciding that he prefers using his real name. Whereas it is as a dj, an art director or a label curator Daniel aims to the same thing: suggesting a poetic and sensitive yet powerful and energic approach to dance music.

Kito Jempere with an album full of international minds. Working with array of collaborators across a cast of friends including Jimi Tenor, Wolfram, Hard Ton, Lipelis, Rich Thair (Red Snapper), Ruf Dug, Cedric Gasaida (Azari & III) and many more, presenting this, his third long play.

A hail of freedom of thoughts and voices before these changed times, recorded and shared across continents. Kito – following releases with DFA, Lo Recordings, Bordello A Parigi, Hell Yeah, Freerange and Duca Bianco – acts as curator rather than conductor, the idea not to transform the contributions but allow them absolute.

Sending music and receiving back, nothing was touched to keep the truth and honour. From Tokyo to London, Berlin to his base in St Petersburg, trusting the chosen artists led to a broad palette, as his 4/4 driven funk expands with Jazz horns to Motorik percussion, Avant-Reich vocals to White Isle melodies, J Pop Balearics to Chanson stories wrapped around Club memories.

A true world meeting, crossing borders and genres. An eye on the dance floor and week long chill outs. With remixes from the likes of Samo DJ, Lipelis, Cable Toy and more to follow, this is more than Yet Another Kito Jempere Album.
