Black Seed is the alternate identity of Turin-based DJ and producer Matteo Viani.

The project is a showcase of his excavations into the realm of tribal-tinged techno and live experimentation. Using the sharp edges of a raw, tribalistic robot funk sound as tools for crafting rhythm, Black Seed generates unsettling yet grooving scenarios, basemental bangers of danger dunked in smoke and hypnosis.

Since it’s start in 2017 Isla has proceeded a number of events (residencies at Lizdas club and Empty Brain Resort), art happenings and 2 small festivals. Now it’s even more scaled with a launch of label called Isla to Isla. For now, 2 tapes of Vladas Dieninis and Jūra Elena Šedytė have been released but the ambitions are on fire and there is a vivid aim to release much more quality music on different physical formats. For Electric Shapes Isla co-founders Hìldá & Patricia Kokett recorded an intense and colourfully dynamic mix, consisting of their  eclectic tastes and giving a glimpse into what’s happening during their b2b’s.
