Ciao a tutti,

and welcome to my mix for June and my sweet spot: Italo Disco.

As some might know already I'm deep into Italo Disco for quite some time. It all started by cruising in Marcus tuned Opel Corsa from his brother blasting 'Boys' from Sabrina, me cringing about it in the first place but slowly and surely falling into love with Italo.

For this mix I tried to pick some of my favourite Italo Disco tracks (at least the ones I own 😅) that would fit into what I call 'Italo Disco Classics'. So unfortunately no Sabrina but watch out, there's more to come.

You don't get the nickname "King of the Cut" for nothing...

Over the years, Danish DJ and producer Flemming Dalum has built a reputation for being a dab hand at the edit. Italo is his life-long passion: he's been dedicated to the darker, underground shades of the sound since the 1980s.

His impact on the genre is remarkable: he's made nine edit packages for Centre Neptune; created mixes for Mothball Records, Bordello A Parigi and Roller Disco Records; and reworked tracks by Klein & M.B.O, Koto, Steel Mind, Mono Band and so many others.

He's also a longtime affiliate of Red Laser Records, the Italo-indebted Manctalo imprint run by Il Bosco, which he's contributed a ton of edits and remixes to. The Manchester label reached the ripe old age of 10 this year and to commemorate the imprint reaching a milestone anniversary, Flemming has whipped up a special mix of his favourite label cuts to take the listener on a journey. In his own words, "the sound of Red Laser will show you the way."

Quand Diana ne s'occupe pas des sans-abris de Toronto, elle collection les raretés sur vinyles en digne représentante de l'italo d'outre-atlantique qu'elle est. Car c'est peut-être LA dj italo nord américaine (ne serait-ce que sur Toronto), d'où elle rayonne mondialement, armée de ses disques introuvables. Et c'est notamment sur sa chaine YouTube où elle dévoile régulièrement des "vinyls-rip" de ses trouvailles italo, nubeat et synthpop dont seule elle, en a le secret.
