Our Brooklyn-Amsterdam connection has been growing stronger each day in the past few years. The bond our platform has with artists and labels from Amsterdam is truly special. The amount of talented artists and quality music that emerges (almost feels like daily) from the vibrant Dutch scene is mind-boggling. In that type of environment you really need to do something original and of high quality to get recognized. One of the record labels that has been on a steady rise since their initial release in 2017, Kalahari Oyster Cult seems to be making all the right moves. For all good reasons, Kalahari Oyster Cult is considered as one of the most exciting imprints nowadays which pushes the boundaries of electronic music with each new release and is home to artists like Roza Terenzi, Erell Ranson, Cleveland, A Psychic Yes and Reptant to name a few. 

The mastermind behind all this is Rey Colino, DJ and curator, whose mixes have been on heavy rotation in our HQs. In 2020, Colino started a new project - a vinyl-focused distribution service One Eye Witness. The project acts as a missing link between record labels and artists that share similar philosophies and provides them with a foundation to further develop. By being the main curator for both Kalahari Oyster Cult and One Eye Witness and with the amount of quality music that goes through his hands on a daily basis, Rey Colino is a perfect addition to our 'Delayed with...' series. 

The mix Colino made for us is a brilliant, feel-good energetic voyage that features tons of forthcoming releases. Technically immaculate with a great vibe all over, this mix is one of the best we heard this year. Hats off, Rey Colino!

With purest delight, I'm so excited to welcome Pjenné of Passing Notes Radio & Companion (@companionmelb) for the latest episode in our series. Penny's curatorial expertise and long-standing dedication to the Naarm/Melbourne scene have established her as a pillar of the city's sonic landscape, and both her love of musical discovery and unmistakable influence are felt deeply from afar. 

Pjenné's mix is a enchanting trip through fields of wonder, equal parts honey and gossamer, moving and blissfully sublime. Tender hues paint the air while fervent warmth fills the aching heart. There are few selectors out there with a repertoire as consistently profound as Penny's, and yet one feels we've barely scratched the surface of what's to come. Thank you Penny!

#132 brings a very special, beautifully crafted live set by a talented Australian local who resides on the coast nearby Naarm/Melbourne, Miris (@montyhartnett).This set was originally planned to played in the Planetarium (my favourite stage) @ Hopkins Creek Festival 2022, however sadly the festival was cancelled due to unforeseen weather events. So, this was recorded live in the studio.

Monty has a lovely distinctive dubby techno focused sound, infused with the warmth of old school house.. a softer alternation of Australian bush techno, but just as full of pure dancefloor groove. He is also one of the hands behind the local imprint Vessel (@user-901026239).

Musical trends are nothing more than waves that rise and fall according to fashions, desires and inspirations.
The current trend towards progressive house, mental techno and goa trance, for example, is merely a recuperation of initiatives launched in the 90s. Yet we're improving the sound, making it more modern and reappropriating it to suit our generation.

The two artists featured on this latest issue of tdt are all in love with paying tribute to those famous years, and they do it particularly well. They are the very reason why we continue to look to the past to produce a present that strives to do better.

Both club-oriented and at the same time introspective and intimate, the worlds of Pjenne and Jolly encourage exploration, and that's exactly what we're interested in here!

Violetta started djing and collecting records about 9 years ago, during her studies, in the city of Aachen. There she organized parties, a small festivals and opened a self-organized bar with friends - the "Kongress".

Since moving to Berlin 3 years ago, stopped organizing parties, but happy to continue DJing and recently made her Panorama Bar debut with her partner Lucas. 

Influenced by the various venues, her partner, friends, record stores and the internet, her style and record collection has evolved in various directions. House music was and still is her first love, but in recent years she have also discovered her passion to electro & IDM.
