Tech Support is London-based producer Ned Dickinson, who has released music on labels including Futureboogie, Nocturne and Dansu Discs. He also operates under the guise of Asa Tate. He never confines himself to one sound or style but there’s a distinct nod to the 80s in his influences and output; be assured you’ll find lashings of Italo, vintage darkwave, euphoric house and slo mo chug when he’s behind the decks or laying it down in the studio.
 
His work rate as a producer has been on the up over the last few years. If he’s not sharing his solo work, which has formed releases for Nocturne, Together Alone, Futureboogie, Silver Bear and, most recently Ano Ano, he’s crafting his own self-released edits and reworks of legendary new beat, new wave and Italo Disco tracks like ‘Burning Down The House’, ‘Je Suis Passee’ and ‘Drop The Deal’. Lately he’s been making music under another alias, Asa Tate, with a track penned for this year’s Rhythm Section SHOUTS compilation.

The next single from @jacob-stoy’s new album »Overload« is »Raster«, an otherworldly gem that sets a mood you don't wanna leave again. It's out now on all digital platforms.

@jacob-stoy’s OVERLOAD is here. It is a long-running and crucial project in the Berlin musician and graphic designer's artistic output. What began as a multi-dimensional art project about the over-presence of stimuli hammering our consciousness in the days of late capitalism evolved into a fascinating musical field study into the deep canyons of future IDM, lo-fi wave, freakfolk and everything in between.

The album is a piece of conceptual art that uses sound and music to reflect on the modern information society and our relationship to digital content. Lost in the endless stream of sensations, we are not only plagued by fears of missing out on relevant information, but also increasingly by addictive behavior in the form of a permanent longing for content. Despite the constant oversupply, these relationships lead to loneliness, social isolation and the inability to make decisions.

Almost inevitably, the musical spectrum on OVERLOAD is extraordinarily broad, ranging from state-of-the-art IDM to lo-fi wave sketches, hip-hop stumblings and freakfolk miniatures through to twisted ambient. Nevertheless, it is surprisingly cohesive and works well as a cure for digital overload in a kind of conceptual irony. It is an album that will inevitably cast a spell over listeners.

But Jacob Stoy's album is by no means the end of the OVERLOAD concept. The ideas are being continued on the project's website and in various artistic contributions. Jacob Stoy has asked many friends how they would translate their thoughts on the subject into individual works of art. Many exhibits have already been submitted, with many more to come. The project will ultimately culminate in a concept exhibition that brings together all the contributions and creates a dialog between them.

You just have to uncover the mantle of what you've been told. What all the elites tried to tell you, what the fools despised, what the companies tried to sell you without you needing it. Away from selfishness and proving your own importance. "Assembly Plant For Human Priorities" is an eleven-part mystical essence synth mosaic of the integral parts of our lives that don't seem to concern us, but only until we start going to them with tears in our eyes to lay wreaths by cemetery candlelight.

As many eyes as you want to keep open, that's how many you can have. That's how much you can give away around you. "Assembly Plant For Human Priorities" is a question mark in a sentence where there is often a period. An exclamation point where many hear a question mark.

Review@junodownload: One-man production line turned label boss Adam Funk dons his Disco Re Edit guise to showcase another selection of tried and tested, party-starting treats. He begins by serving up an extended version of a semi-familiar, P-funk era treat - think Prince style guitars, cowbells, silly solos and smart grooves - before doffing a cap to early '80s, cock-rocking disco-rock on the heavy "Disco King". He dishes up a killer chunk of Italo influenced disco-rock grandiosity on the killer "Disco Rock (DJ Mix)", before playing around with eyes-closed guitar solos and throbbing synthesizer lines on "From The Space (Extended Mix)". The Hammond-heavy grooves of "Improvisation (Extended Mix)" and soaring, string-laden AOR disco of "In My Heart" complete a solid package.
