Free Shelter invites the molecular biologist by day, DJ by night @marijanaanajiram for the 18th instalment of their guest mix series on IDA Radio.

Raised in Belgrade, but settled since then in Cologne, Marijana Croon falls into the category of “your favourite DJs, favourite DJ”. Her sound ranges from mind altering soundscapes and pitched downed hitters to hard-hitting, sweaty knucklefists. 

With her residency at the infamous Salon Des Amateurs in her hometown, and several mixes/shows on critically acclaimed radio stations such as Retreat Radio, Mutant Radio and Refugee Radio, it’s easy to see why we’re excited to have her join the series.

1984 : In the studio of the small Italian town of Cremona, some of the famous but early representatives of a not-yet-named- music style called Italo Disco get together to record a song.

Among them are the most active and influential singers, producers and arrangers of this musical movement from Cesare Pasquali to Jimmy Mc Foy including Ottavio Bacciocchi.

Most importantly, two friends, Larry Pignagnoli and the famous Ivana Spagna, were writing a song together. It has been unnoticed so far, but always had the power and stamina to make the dead dance. Pardonnez-nous, but here it is!

The ‘Emergence’ series was the first fully-fledged project of Bella Ursa's head honcho Letherique, aimed at experimenting with the boundaries of his many influences – no matter if its techno, disco, electro, or ambient. It helped forge his identity through much trial and error and ultimately led to the creation of the Bella Ursa imprint.

As now is the time to finally move forward in peace, we thought it would be nice to release a mixtape compiling all these early works, along with a few extra and unreleased tracks. To make this collection complete, he entrusted many of his friends met over the years with each producing a remix of their choice. Harnessing the power from a multitude of different scenes, ‘Emergence Remixed’ offers a brand-new journey into uncharted horizons, where Morodesque disco meets mind-altering electro-jazz and cinematic delights reminiscent of Lalo Schifrin’s soundtracks. 
It will be released digitally on all platforms, but also on a cassette inside a beautiful smoked UV printed case, which assembles with the first part of the collection.

It's his second EP for the label, the first being the Bleu Infini EP back in 2017(although some stellar tracks of his did appear on the Lost Transmissions compilation which is getting a repress this year and the Invisible Family EP#3).

For those unfamiliar with him, Bal5000 was pretty big on the drum & bass circuit a decade or so ago (known simply as "Bal" back then) but more recently he's been exploring this kind of bass-heavy spaced house and slo-mo acid sound like you'll find here. Kind of reminiscent of I:Cube a little...but you'll find it definitely has its own distinct flavour.

Bal5000's music has been enjoyed and played by ALFOS, Daniele Baldelli, The Beat Broker and more. Here's what's been said about "Neutra" EP:

Starting the week with David Lost @davidlost with a special Valencia Sound mix for all Bakalao fans. In this case David selected rare tracks from this era and you can listen to a lot of side B from Megabeat and other producers from Valencia.
David is a key part of a scene formed in Barcelona in which it is difficult to identify his style, but it can be identified in which mixes dedicated to the Dark Wave, Post-punk and icy and industrial sounds abound. The mixing and selection capacity is of a high level, which is why it should be in the Italo Moderni Series. Time to welcome our friend David.
